Yes yes, it really makes sense to scream in outrage at a God you don't believe in over something foolish one person that believes in Him said.

He's not screaming in outrage at God.

This is the second person "in power" in a party that I once considered myself a part of saying something abhorrent in just the past couple of months that doesn't feel a bit ashamed what he's said.

I'm sure there's more, but this is the latest.

No, you seem wrong because you believe that.

Hurricanes are actually caused by *low* pressure ;)

Yes he is. Even if he's screaming in outrage at some hypothetical god that condones rape and is not the Christian God, he still clearly does not believe int hat deity either. It's silly.

I'm just reveling in the irony that Mus is expressing his revulsion against that statement with an invective that implies his desire to rape the utterer and his God for... condoning rape.

That doesn't mean rape is a good thing. Lots of bad things happen that God allows (eg Job) that God allows to happen for reason we don't understand.
However,I don't know why this guy is hung up on a very small amount of abortions when there are a lot of other bigger issues we need to worry about I really do believe all innocent life should be protected and I get standing for that but it seems he's going out of his way on this. There's something to be said about pearls and swine after all.

Well, if you believe in God, he's really not wrong. If God exists, then anything that actually happens is intended.

Rape is God's will? At least get his statements correct.

God, I hate this bullshit where people put words into people's mouths and then get all indignant about something they didn't say.

I don't get what you're mad about. If God exists and is omnipotent, then everything that happens is what he intended.

Not sure if that means what you think it means

I thought I was using it in the context you defined Hops. Rather to say: You know the liberals are going to take your values to make you look like a misogynist caveman so simply stating "All unborn life is important/sacred/should be protected" without getting too far into the weeds shows your views without making you look like said misogynistic caveman

No, they go on to eternal life in Christ. The aborted fetuses burn in Hell, because they're unbaptized. God doesn't live them because they never accepted Jesus.

I agree. Its what politics has devolved to. If you listen to his comment, it is absolutely clear that he is saying that the life itself is something God intended, not the rape. You can argue with him about that, and blast him for believing that all you want. But when you mutate what he said into something ridiculous so that it is easier to attack then screw you. It's pathetic.

Let's carry this logic through.

Let's imagine that instead of pregnancy, the rape resulted in the victim contracting HIV.

Now, he says it is what "God" intended. Are you going to argue he's saying that "it's absolutely clear that the victim contracting AIDS is something God intended, not the rape"?

I don't think the action and the result are separable in a case like this.

Post subject:  Re: Rape is God's Will.

The problem with that is that kids are not equal to HIV. The idea is that its God's will for that child to come into the world regardless of the crime of the biological donor.

Not that thi is a particularly sound idea, since an aborted child would go to Heaven, and thus Gods will is not thwarted, but the point is that its not the rape thats Gods will. Its the kid.

Post subject:  Re: Rape is God's Will.

This is complex stuff and I don't have all the answers. I do believe there are certain principals that play into the whole "why things happen"

1. We have a free will. God lets us have our way without divine intervention a lot of the time.

2. God sometimes let bad things happen because it fulfills His ultimate plans. (see Job)

3. It's a fallen world. Sin begets more sin.

4. We should be careful about judging which Of these forces are in play in another person's life. We shouldn't say that people's misfortunes are because of Gods will or judgment.

In summation God allows everything to happen but that isn't the same as saying its his very best.

If this all sounds a bit harsh, Remember God does have a plan to put everything back into perfection and has made provision through the death burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ for anyone who will believe and repent.
