An eloquent speaker, who is touting the usual conservative mantras.

By and large an enjoyable speech, however he fails to take his own advice in his closing remark which is to read history and understand it so you can move forward. The pledge wasn't "One Nation, under God." It was "One Nation Indivisible" until people in the 50's **** it up.

30 mins... TL;DW. Especially after the first mention of "A compelling gentleman, he loves Jesus" not even 10 seconds in.

Edited for accuracy.

Actually you're wrong.

"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

Yeah, that almost lost me, but I wanted to give Nitefox the benefit of the doubt in his recommendation.

Sorry I put the word indivisible on the wrong side of God instead of leaving it out completely. I guess we both **** up. Thanks?

The Pledge was amended during the Eisenhower administration. That would put it during the '50s.

May not have been official yet, but this *** started it...
Quote:
Louis A. Bowman... At a meeting on February 12, 1948, Lincoln's Birthday, he led the Society in swearing the Pledge with two words added, "under God."

I'm sorry, but: Who gives a **** about the pledge of allegiance?

Can I get a summary of the 30min video besides "omfg I'm atheist and a speaker talked about god at a **** prayer breakfast?"

Be honest with your fellow man, see the benefits of education, you control your own destiny.

It doesn't matter who started it, the phrase wasn't added to the Pledge of Allegiance until the law passed.

Which was as a political move to emphasize our difference from the Soviets, who, you know, restricted religious freedom?

I'm very focused on education and getting the populace back to where it used to be -- like back in 1831 when Alexis de Tocqueville was so impressed -- because an uneducated populace will fall for anything.

And if you and you talk to most people, they mean well but they don't have much of a breadth of education, of knowledge, of understanding of what the real issues are and, therefore, they listen to pundits on television who tell them what they're supposed to think and they keep repeating that and pretty soon they say, 'Oh, well that must be true.'
