Reposting because I am sure the local affiliate site will choke on the unexpected traffic:
Quote:
BOSTON —Two explosions have been reported near the Boston Marathon finish line on Boylston Street as thousands of people gathered for the race, and there are reports of injuries.

The blasts happened at about 2:50 p.m. near the intersection of Boylston and Exeter streets. Witnesses said several victims lost limbs, and the area was being evacuated.

The first explosion happened across from the Lenox Hotel and the second blast was about 15 seconds later, witnesses said.

Many of the injured appeared to be spectators who gathered for the 117th running of the race.

NewsCenter 5's Sean Kelly said the impact of the explosions could be felt blocks away.

The victims were being taken to Massachusetts General Hospital.

Anyone hear anything about this?

Well, no. To cause the terror, one goes where there is terror to be caused.

I mean, yeah, they could set off a bomb in East ****, IA, but noone would care about the one cow that was injured.

I do not necessarily know that we should jump to terrorist conclusions until we know more of what is going on. But my thoughts and prayers go out to the families of those injured or killed in this.

What are the odds of a Tea Party being blamed in under 3 hours by a major network?

My brother, sister-in-law and some of her extended family are there (her sister was running in the marathon).

They had decided in the morning to go spectate at the half-way point first to cheer her on, then make their way to the finish line. They went to catch a train and my brother missed the train that everyone else got on, so they waited at the station for him. That meant they were just a few blocks away and walking towards the finish line when the explosions happened.

Thankfully, they have accounted for everyone they know.

My thoughts go out to the victims.

I'd care. East ****, IA, isn't far from North ****, IA.

Not taking bets on that. Odds are too close to being 100%.

Link? I am normally the first to believe the worst of the NY times but did not see it in the news blurb I skimmed. Comments sections don't count thought.

So a writer who happens to work for NYT links to a Washington Post article, and that somehow means that NYT is blaming republicans?

Umm... What about this one?

Nicholas Kristof is perhaps the most storied living print editorialist; he's certainly one of the most decorated. Two Pulitzers, Tianamen in 89 with his wife, and one for Darfur in 2006; and more nominations for Pulitzer Prizes than I care to mention. Kristof doesn't happen to work for the NY Times, he's the poster boy for their shift to left-leaning editorialism in the last decade. He's their most read editorialist and has two of the highest read columns in the country.

If he's not fired before I get home from work, I'll cancel my subscription to the NYT for Editorial Misconduct.

a bomb reminding you that one of the organizations that is frequently involved in the investigation of illegal munitions is still leaderless because of blocked nomination is STILL a far cry from saying Republicans are to blame.
