I haven't read any of this storyline yet, but this is a comic, not real life, and just indicates another retcon will be coming later. We've had our fair share of suckage in almost every comic storyline/universe.
Old in what sense? He first appeared in comics in May 1939 as a robust young hero, probably between 25 and 30. This would mean Bruce Wayne the person is at least in his 90s, he may even be 100 (or older). As a public persona, the fact that he is still able to stand to deliver his public statements is laudable. That as Batman he is still able to fight crime in the toughest parts of Gotham is truly amazing. He must be busting the great-grandkids of the thugs and hoodlums he busted in the 30s and 40s.
All that DC needs is a good retcon, a dip in the Lazarus pit, or some other youth restoring feature, as well as the disappearance of Bruce Wayne as a person, nice funeral, mausoleum, which please don't use as an entrance to the Batcave, please. This will allow the Bruce Wayne, Inc. corporation to keep financing the Batman and get rid of the 100 year old playboy.
Heck, they could even bring Dick Grayson back as the leader of BWI, he was only about 10 years old in his first appearance in April 1940, he's only around 80.
