My wife was really, really looking forward to this one. She spent a whole day watching all the clips on their website before it's airing.

We enjoyed it. I was a little surprised to see a hard-R rating amount of gore in it, but it didn't bother me a whole lot.

Spoiler:
My only beef with it so far: Just how long was he in a coma, and just how long could he survive without having his IV/catheter changed?

I wondered the same thing. I thought I read somewhere that it was only a few weeks.

Spoiler:
I thought someone (Morgan?) said the hot water had been out for a month, that would lead me to believe he'd been in a coma for about that long. The IV/catheter/dehydration question could be resolved by thinking that the hospital staff didn't all disappear right away, it did look like a base of operations for the local military. Perhaps his care just declined over time - like the facial hair growth marking when they stopped shaving him etc.

If you're not following this series, then you're really missing out. That's all I have to say for now.

I hate the deputy/wife storyline already. What kind of whore hops on another cock after a month?

I think she was heavily peer-pressured into it.

I think it was going on before the outbreak.

I think the situation may have a few extenuating circumstances. She needs a strong man to take care of her and her kid, and she believes her husband is dead.

This.

Spoiler:
The other guy was acting kinda funny when Rick told him of the troubles he and his wife were having, in the first episode. Remember Rick said that she asked him if he still loved her and the child. If she was having doubts already, it's not a stretch to think that she went looking for love elsewhere. I'm pretty sure this is not something that's a recent development.

Either way she's a slut and it's annoys the hell out of me. How convienent that they both survived. Way too GD forced for me. They should have let the story develop/evolve more naturally.

Spoiler:
If you remember after September 11th they put an end to firefighters directly helping out spouses of other firefighters who died because they ended up getting to close, divorcing their current spouse and marrying the people they were sent to support. I think in those situations it can be confusing for them, and when someone close comes in to comfort them it can lead to things. I have a feeling the other deputy is kind of a dbag, so he might have told her he was dead.

So far so good, I mostly wanted to see it, in case they tossed out the "losers" into the zombies ( I hate reality shows!)...so I thought might be funny if it occurred. Sadly no such luck.....but it's interesting.
Typical zombie fare with some character growth exploration since it's 5 episodes. It's partly like the BBC America show "Survivors" that takes place after the flu outbreak.
I'm glad I recorded it...hope you like it also when you watch it. FYI Episode one is longer than the others...appx. 45 mins.

Here's one review I found after I came across the show by accident, minutes before it was to air http://www.boston.com/ae/tv/articles/2010/10/25/dead_set_presents_reality_tv_as_a_safe_haven_and_other_horrors/ and some more off of IMDB http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1285482/news.

Edit.....I am only 2 full episodes through as of right now, but still glad I decided to give it a watch. The only actor I can say I've seen somewhere else...is the actor who plays "Joplin".

I'm glad I watched it, but I could have really done without the shaky/out-of-focus cam.

Spoiler:
I'm not saying I'm not missing something here, but I never got the impression that the deputy knew that he was not dead? Dude was in a coma, zombie outbreak, the hospital was completely lost, why would you ever think that he was alive? I actually felt the other way about it, that the unattached deputy felt that he was stepping up and taking care of his dead partner's family. Still a d-bag because of the way he acts, but maybe he had a noble idea in mind?

No, I'm saying that's why she might have done it, I think he just took advantage of the situation and her.

I still think she was whoring with him before the outbreak and I agree with whoever said he was a total cockstain above. Your best friend and partner's wife? Really eff off.

I'ma bad necro-poster, but ... I knew about this, avoided it for some reason (start of busy holiday season, i guess), and then stumbled on a showing of the first episode last night on AMC. Had nothing else to do, so I watched it for a few minutes, and crap, I'm hooked. I especially liked the main character's "awakening", so to speak. Thought the opening shootout scene was a bit contrived, though.

Zombie apocalypse may have started in Los Angeles, thought - walked out of the office to get something to eat today, and saw three Chinook helicopters cruising down the 110 Freeway corridor, at building-level. Kind of eerie after watching the show last night.

Anyway, good stuff, going to try and catch all the episodes I can.
