LOL highlight of the night so far:
A toon named Deadlymanelf sends me a tell asking "Hey wanna be my girl?" (I play a female character)
My reply: "Get your skill in begging up to 10."
Some servers are worse than others, but overall it seems that WoW's playerbase (maybe in other games also) is a bit shallow and immature. You will find a lot of "lolzurbad" along the way. The great thing is you can turn off channels such as tradechat, and put people on ignore.
You will find very little in the way of roleplay in the game. People are more concerned with making gold, getting to max level, getting top end gear etc etc. They are more inclined to seek the end, than enjoy the journey. WoW can also be a lonely game at times, since there are certain times you will be playing solo.....a la questing, farming, etc. It's a rarity that people group, and mostly only for dungeons. Occationally you see them group for harder quests, or group dailies, and when they do it's wham bam thank you maam.
As for the class to try out.....try them all. But to save time, if you want a versatile, viable class all thru your days into end game and PuG'ing.....pick a paly or druid. Those two classes can do everything, and do it well.
Concerning graphics. It was hard to originally go from EQ to WoW for me also. Over time, it feels more normal now. Looking at EQ grahics now compared to WoW, EQ looks horrible. At the time, it felt the other way around. Give it time, and it will grow on you......
One word.....don't expect too much from the game, and you won't be disappointed. WoW is very casual friendly, and very shallow. Long gone are the days of EQ, where the community was extremely important.
YMMV
Yeah I can handle MMO fools (in that I pity them).
So far I have a Dwarven Hunter and a Blood Elf Warrior (man WARs are much more fun than when I tried them in the past). That heal strike they get is pretty nice for soloing.
To be fair, I've received the graphics much better this time than in the past, since they've definitely done some upgrades to the engine. It's less pastelly and more vibrant.
Overall, I am (so far) having much more fun with WoW than I ever have in the past. I think some of their more recent changes are to thank for that.
Oh, one technical question -- apparently it's registering my account as "Trial" even though I've started fresh with a full 3-month sub. I think that it may have to do with me merging some old trial accounts I had with my main Battle.net. So, is there a way to "unmarry" old accounts from your main one, or just wait until my trial ends?
