Okay. I'm not big on reality TV. In fact, I generally consider it a blight obliterating the face of entertainment and a significant factor in the decline of scripted programming.

But I can get behind a very select few of them, because I can almost pretend they're really game shows/competitions or documentaries. That said, I usually wouldn't shed a tear if they got rid of all the little mini-interviews and commentary in favor of shortening the damn thing.

Anyways, I thoroughly enjoyed last season's show, and this season looks to be just as terrifying. Anybody else watching?

I'm watching. I'm always amazed by just how bad some people are in the kitchen. Even if nobody taught you how to cook it's not that hard to crack open a recipe book...

Yeah, Timmit, exactly. I have no idea how these people can have made it through life quite that clueless. I can understand having minimal "real" cooking skills, but when you watch the first episode and realize that they're bringing this stuff in from home, where they have access to recipes and can make multiple attempts... how do you fail so hard?

I wonder how you qualify for this show.....

Personally, I find being a terrible cook works in my favor...people tend to cook for you :). I hate cooking, I will do clean up duty though!

I'm watching this show as well but there's always the thought in the back of my mind that it would be pretty easy for hopeful contestants to fake ignorance. I wonder how much 'research' the Food Network does looking into their backgrounds and stories.

Slythe, I agree, that could become a problem. The first season I don't think it was, as such people would've gotten the boot at team selection, since the "picking the worst of the finalists for the opposing chef's team" thing wasn't revealed ahead of time. People on the first season's team selection stage thought that they had to cook better to make the cut, as it were.

This season, I noticed they didn't even have more people in the final cut than they were selecting.
