This is partially correct.

360 games generally do run a little bit better, because developers hate writing for the PS3. (Apparently Sony's dev tools are a complete *****.) They write for 360 and then figure out how to port it, and the end result is a game that runs better on 360. However, if the game is written for both platforms from the ground up, or for the PS3 first, it almost always runsand looks MUCH better (and noticeably so) on the PS3. Hardware-wise, despite the memory difference, the PS3 is far more powerful and faster than the 360. This point, however, usually doesn't matter. Most games aren't written with the PS3's capabilities in mind, but rather written for 360 and ported to PS3, which gives the 360 a marginal advantage in performance.

You might as well advertise that you can get syphilis for the 360. They're both just as appealling.

I know...so...as I said, generally, multi-platform games run better on the 360. I just didn't particularly feel like going into the reasons why they run better on the 360. :P

Well, it's definitely spreading as fast or faster than syphilis:

Quote:
In its first sixty days on sale, Microsoft's Kinect peripheral for the Xbox 360 has sold millions. Actually, that should read millions and millions.

Obliterating even Microsoft's own internal wildest dreams, the motion-sensing camera has sold over eight million units since its release late last year.

If you like multi-player games at all, then go with the 360.

The chart should read:

"Do You Like Video Games?"

Yes = buy a PC, PS3, 360, and Wii

As for the topic at hand -- both the 360 and PS3 are so similar in what they offer, that it's really a toss up.

Although for a media player, I would give the edge to PS3.

Little Big Planet and the Ratchet & Clank games alone are a good enough reason to go PS3. :)

The Wii remote and Kinect have a solid place in the future of gaming, whether people like it or not. At least Kinect is an advancement of the technology, rather than a blatant attempt to rip off the Wii remote like the Playstation Move. Actually, from what I've seen being done with the Kienct, it's a nice piece of hardware.

Kinect is one step closer to virtual reality. I like where it's going.

Kinect is the future, unfortunately. I'd prefer to have no motion controls, but I'm pretty lazy when I'm playing games.

Kinect is sluggish, imprecise, and gimicky, and you can't sit in your comfiest chair while using it. I don't see the appeal.

All motion controls are sluggish, imprecise and gimicky.

And up until 4 years ago, the same could be said about touch screens.

Clearly, we should have abandoned them, because they were useless as input mechanisms.

I really don't like touch screens. A guy at work has an iPad. He's fastidiously clean...obsessively so, even. And even he has given up keeping that horrid thing from turning into a disgusting smudgy mess of skin-oils.

I just got an iPod Touch. The touch-screen is almost acceptable for typing. I would still rate physical buttons as easier to use. However, touch-screens in the future will have tactile feedback which will be a great improvement.

You can get haptic feedback on some touch phones already.

Oh, awesome! I'll have to make sure to look for one when my plan lets me upgrade my phone. I think there's different types of feedback and it will keep getting better in the future. I should look more into this.

That's funny darksiege, so far I find the actual operation of the 360 app VASTLY superior to the PS3 version. It's more responsive to button input, it has more options while playing back video (including dynamic video stretching), and can scroll at lightning speed.

On the PS3, you can scroll through a couple screens and then have to wait 10 sec for it to catch up. :)

I have actually not encountered that, so I cannot naysay or confirm this. :)

I have actually had a bunch of issues where the 360 app will not display the images for the selections until I exit out of the app and re-enter it.

And....

the point still stands about being able to stream for free and wirelessly. And since you have a Blu Ray player too... might as well take advantage.

I wouldn't mind if motion controls were abandoned. I'm sure they will get progressively better, but I probably won't ever like them. Ever. Because I want to relax when playing games. Motion controls don't let me relax.

You're just pissed because video games will eventually prevent you from being the fat bastard you want to become.

I disagree. I think there will always be a market for "lazy" video games. I don't think most people want to exercise when they play games.

2 minor points. ;) The Move is a sizable advancement compared to the Wii-mote (though still waiting to see if it will result in anything worthwhile)

And...Sony patented the technology for the Move back in December 2004. While it's obvious the Wii's success is very likely what gave the impetus for Sony to bring their stuff to market, I'm not sure it's right to call it a "rip off" when the patent existed before what they're supposedly ripping off.
