Some radio host bribed the WBC with airtime to not to picket the girl's funeral, although they will still picket the other funerals.

I am really trying to be a better person for the new year... but I really have a hard time when it comes to things like this...

The WBC bartered publicity time for their hate message to not protest a funeral for a 9 year old...

The fact that this bunch of shitsucking **** even think that it is an acceptable thing to do as "Christians" is beyond me. I hope to all that is that Karma visits each and everyone of those pieces of ****.

There are no possible words that could be expressed to the parents of a nine year old killed like this.. and this cult is trying to benefit from it.

And that is all they are now, they are a cult. Nothing more, nothing less...

This is actually true of all organized religions.

It is only a cult in the third person. I have a religion, we have religions, they belong to a damned cult.

I don't have a religion. I have an individual faith based personal understanding.

I was paraphrasing Benjamin Franklin on revolutions and their legality. Our revolution isn't illegal, their revolution is.

Ahh, how language is changed to suit those in power.

Cult

Despite the use of the word cult in a derogatory manner, that is still only its tertiary definition. It's primary and secondary definitions still very much apply to mainstream religions, despite their desire otherwise in order to place a negative label on belief systems they disagree with.

Eh, IIRC the origin of the world "cult" came in the 1930s as a word to differentiate smaller, more private religious groups from the larger church-like groups.

When I use the term cult, in this case... I think of those who cut off their junk and wait for their glorious comet to come and save them.

Which is different from the cult that sits around cutting themselves because no one understands them... which is different than the cult that seems to swallow Obama-goo by the ejaculation full tripping over themselves to appease their lord and savior...

which is really only a small hair away from the cult that believes humanity is a plague. (the one which I keep applying to). Hell... to be honest the Masonic Order is probably a cult, but we do not see them trying to score free radio time at the expense of others.

And if I am in power... woohoo! go me, why wasn't I told of this?

You don't entirely remember correctly.

First Known English Use: 1610+
Etymology: Latin, "Cultus."

I just worded it incorrectly. To rob from Wiki -

The concept of "cult" was introduced into sociological classification in 1932 by American sociologist Howard P. Becker as an expansion of German theologian Ernst Troeltsch's church-sect typology. Troeltsch's aim was to distinguish between three main types of religious behavior: churchly, sectarian and mystical. Becker created four categories out of Troeltsch's first two by splitting church into "ecclesia" and "denomination", and sect into "sect" and "cult".

That's what I was referring to.

Yes, the tertiary definition from what Corolinth linked.

Thing is, there's no real, substantial difference between any of them. One isn't somehow more valid or credible than another. "Cult" when used as a derogatory term is always "the pot calling the kettle black," as it were.

Quote:
Congresswoman ‘s Gabrielle Giffords’ (D-Ariz.) shooting in Tucson, Ariz., last weekend has brought up several questions about the partisan nature of our current political climate. But today Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) said in a speech at the left-leaning policy think tank Center for American Progress that working in a bipartisan manner on infrastructure and clean energy could help overcome the “divisive political rhetoric” in the wake of the Tucson tragedy.

“In the weeks and months ahead, the real issue we need to confront isn’t just what role divisive political rhetoric may have played on Saturday — but it’s the violence divisive, overly simplistic dialogue does to our democracy every day,” Kerry said

“The frustrating reality is that our American political system is increasingly paralyzed and Balkanized into a patchwork of narrow interests that have driven the larger ‘national good’ far from the national dialogue altogether,” he said.

He added that while building and investing in America has always been a bi-partisan issue, currently “partisan paralysis” has kept us from rebuilding the infrastructure investment made through the years from politicians on both sides of the line.

Kerry is right. But I doubt he's any different than the rest of them in that regard.

What's particularly sad, is those "patchwork of narrow interests" are all BAD. None of them, with the possible exception of Ron Paul, has any interest in restoring real freedom and curtailing government.

I'll see your Kerry and raise you a NY Times!

Quote:
In the most bald-faced lie I have ever read in The New York Times — which is saying something — that paper implied Loughner is a pro-life zealot. This is the precise opposite of the truth.

Only because numerous other news outlets, including ABC News and The Associated Press, reported the exact same shocking incident in much greater detail — and with direct quotes — do we know that the Times’ rendition was complete bunk.

ABC News reported: “One Pima Community College student, who had a poetry class with Loughner later in his college career, said he would often act ‘wildly inappropriate.’

“‘One day (Loughner) started making comments about terrorism and laughing about killing the baby,’ classmate Don Coorough told ABC News, referring to a discussion about abortions. ‘The rest of us were looking at him in shock . . . I thought this young man was troubled.’

Another classmate, Lydian Ali, recalled the incident as well.

“‘A girl had written a poem about an abortion. It was very emotional and she was teary eyed and he said something about strapping a bomb to the fetus and making a baby bomber,’ Ali said.”

Here’s the Times’ version: “After another student read a poem about getting an abortion, Mr. Loughner compared the young woman to a ‘terrorist for killing the baby.’”

So that’s how the Times transformed Loughner from a sicko laughing about a dead fetus to a deadly earnest pro-life fanatic. (Never believe a news story written by Eric Lipton, Charlie Savage or Scott Shane of The New York Times — or for simplicity, anything in the Times.)

QFT.

As long as Republicans go directly against the platforms that created the largest victory for them in 40+ years, everything will be ok!

Its like the Dem mouthpieces can't help but push their crap every time they talk.

Even when used by someone with no religious associations? ;)

That said, generally if I use the word, I use it as the meaning it entered the modern English language as...to just differentiate between the group and a large organization. And since, when used, my meaning is virtually always recognized and understood, my use of it seems to work. :)

So this dude gets shot by that maniac Laughner twice. Well, he blames Glen Beck and Sarah Palin and all the rest for it. So you say ok, the guy was shot twice he's clearly in shock or emotional or whatever and just ignore it.

But now he flips his lid and threatens some random Tea Party leader calling them whores and shouting "You're dead!". By the way the local tea party people have been receiving a lot of death threats since this all went down and the liberals tried to pin it on them. Ironic, yes?

http://www.kgun9.com/Global/story.asp?S=13849741

Quote:
“Toward the end of the town hall meeting Saturday morning, one of the shooting victims, J. Eric Fuller, took exception to comments by two of the speakers: Ariz. state Rep. Terri Proud, a Dist. 26 Republican, and Tucson Tea Party spokesman Trent Humphries.

“According to sheriff’s deputies at the scene, Fuller took a photo of Humphries and said, ‘You’re Dead.’

“Deputies immediately escorted Fuller from the room.

“Pima County Sheriff’s spokesman Jason Ogan said later Saturday that Fuller has been charged with threats and intimidation and he also will be charged with disorderly conduct.”

and PS he's now in for psychiatric evaluation.

Arizona Shooting Victim Remains Under Psychiatric Evaluation Following Arrest at Town Hall Meeting

Published January 17, 2011
| FoxNews.com
Print Email Share Comments (41) Text Size Arizona shooting victim James Eric Fuller remains under psychiatric observation following his arrest Saturday for threatening a Tea Party leader at a town hall meeting.

Fuller’s arrest follows his public rebuking of Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck, accusing them of inciting Jared Loughner, the man suspected in the shooting rampage that left six dead and 13 injured -- including Rep. Gabrielle Giffords -- at a Tucson supermarket.

Pima County Sheriff spokesman Jason Ogan told FoxNews.com that Fuller -- who was charged with disorderly conduct and making threats -- is still at an undisclosed facility in Tucson, Ariz.

On Friday, Media Matters touted their interview with Fuller, who said Palin and other media figures had “definitely” had an impact on the Tucson shooting. He also said Palin “should be incarcerated for treason for advocating assassinating public officials.”

In the interview Fuller said: "If you are going to scream hatred and preach hatred, you're going to sow it after a while if you've got a soap box like they've got. We've got a surplus of demented dingbats, wackos."

The news program "Democracy Now" also featured an interview with Fuller who said that after being hospitalized for his wounds, he stayed up most of the night, writing down the words Declaration of Independence to help him try to calm down. The 63-year-old disabled veteran was shot in the knee and back in the shooting.

But on Saturday Fuller appeared to become enraged and allegedly started threatening Tucson Tea Party co-founder Trent Humphries at a town hall meeting being taped for an ABC News special.

Fuller -- who was sitting in the front row -- allegedly became agitated when Humphries suggested postponing gun control conversations until after all six shooting victims had been buried.

Ogan said that Fuller snapped a photo of the Tea Party leader and yelled out, "You're dead." Fuller also began ranting, and as he was being escorted out, he addressed the audience as "whores," according to Ogan.

================================================================================

I'm still waiting for the calls to shut down Media Matters and Democracy Nows stoking of "hate speech".

Tuscon shooting- liberal media outlets trampled themselves to pin it on Palin, Talk Raido, Tea party etc. But the Fort Hood shooting was an immediate "oh we can't jump to conclusions". The DC Sniper- expert profilers about how it's a "deranged white man", then all of the sudden it was discovered to be a black guy and the expert profilers were silent about motive and reason.

I'm so fed up with the double standard of the media.

Fuller's definately having some issues right now. I can't say that I would not, after being shot twice.

I hope he gets some help and calms down a bit.

Or maybe, having been wrong in this immediately after the shootings, they've learned to wait and get more info? (Although I note that most of the coverage of the shooting seemed to be about how some people were blaming talk radio, etc, not that all of the media outlets actually thought that was true. Which is another problem - making the story about the spin, rather than about what actually happened.)
