I was at the grocery store today and they, like all grocery stores, were playing music through the overhead speakers. The odd thing today was, I was digging a lot of their song selection choices. Pocket Full of Kryptonite by Spin Doctors, No Rain by Blind Melon, and many more. I then realized to my dismay, "These bands are 20 years old. I am now their middle-age target market."

I've noticed this trend a little in some radio stations too.

To be honest, I don't mind it as much as I say I do. It's nice to hear the music I like more often in public areas.

This, exactly. I'm reveling in the fact that radio stations are getting better. It's been rough, for about the last decade, getting good airplay for early-mid 90's stuff. It was too contemporary to be on the classic stations targetting the market you mention, but too old to be on contemporary top 40 stuff.

And Jimmy Olsen's Blues is the best Spin Doctors song around.

I saw the Spin Doctors and Screaming Trees in the New Orleans Municiple Auditorium years ago. IIRC. Great concert in a great venue.....balcony setting with about 7500 seats total.

I am right there with you Numbuk. I got irritated the first time I heard Motley Crue on the local Classic Rock station....

Heh, I've been dealing with the songs I like being Golden Oldies for awhile now.

Think of them as "classics".

I dunno. I really like "Two Princes".

Two Princes isn't bad, but it's not as infectious as Jimmy Olsen's Blues is.

I also prefer two princes.

I saw Blind Melon at a little club in Seattle just after that one album came out.

As for a REAL proof I'm getting old: the owner of one of the coffee stands I sometimes go to is my first official GmILF. She had a little boy in the stand with her and I said her son was adorable...was her grandson. And she is smokin' hot!

I'm going to see Huey Lewis and the News in less than two weeks. I'm marking myself as old with that.

I met my first GmILF when I was about 23. I was working Christmas season at Kay-Bee and the asst mgr was a hot 35-yr old grandmother. That was the year I abandoned the idea that grandmother = old lady.

Two Princes is a great song, I agree. But one that is slightly overplayed (even though I always sing along no matter what when I hear it). Jimmy Olsen Blues is definitely catchy.

Personally, I like Little Miss Can't Be Wrong, just because I know several women who it's a perfect match for.
