A lot of these cartoons never appeared on my Saturday Mornings. Most of my tv watching was either broadcast from Chicago, Wisconsin, or Canada (I grew up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan). Voltron, Transformers, Tranzor Z, all were daily shows. So I will try to compile a list of shows that were my true saturday morning cartoon fare.

Superfriends (hearing Superman say "Great Scott!" as a kid was very cool if your name was Scott)
The Amazing Spider-Man & Friends
Batman
The Real Ghostbusters
Godzilla (with Godzuki)
Dungeons & Dragons (I have the DVD, you aren't missing out)
Pac-Man (not only do I remember this cartoon, I remember the cereal too... just Kix w/ marshmallow ghosts)
Q-Bert
Shazam
Richie Rich
Incredible Hulk & Spider-Man (separate from Spider-man & friends)
Shirt Tales
Wuzzles
Alvin & the Chipmunks
Muppet Babies
Captain Power & the Soldiers of the Future
Pee Wee's Playhouse
My Pet Monster
Hey Vern, It's Ernest!
Garfield & Friends

so... rewatching Voltron (episode 1) on Netflix... how the crap was it "The Secret of Voltron" if every sonofabish in the galaxy knew it?

I mean hell... little kids in the slums never seen a piece of meat know the gorram secret of Voltron...

and... is it really a robot? I mean Robot would indicate some rudimentary AI, or VI. This was essentially 5 overglorified vehicles that made one really big vehicle with dumb pilots. (I mean you know the Blazing Sword is gonna win... just use it first)

In the original Japanese version of Voltron, Voltron was semi-sentient. This is why you sometimes see Voltron's face reacting to things, even in the American version. It was Voltron's own arrogance that forced the king to have Voltron be split up and scattered about, before he was reformed.

Other little facts about differences between Americanized Voltron and the original:
- Japanese Voltron was a lot more bloody.
- Sven dies and *stays* dead.
- Zarkon turns into a Robeast in the final episode, and Voltron kills him permanently.

Because American corporations wanted to milk it for all it was worth, they disregarded all of the above. And Zarkon didn't "die" he just reverted back to normal so they could make another season.

and a comic book too

Anyone remember the four part decisive comic index of Transformers that wad put out during the original run of the show. It listed all the Transformers that ever graced the show. That was the only comic I ever tried to collect.

Mask and TMNT are strangely absent from this list. Though those are weekday cartoons.

I once asked my mom (after complaining about the nephew and too much Spongebob) if she felt my or his generation had the worse cartoons. She ranked mask and he man worse than Spongebob. I've had other moms from the same generation confirm this.
