Within' 24 hours of making this post, I came down with the flu (no shot for me this year)

This is starting to feel like the F1U1 strain.

I get the shot every time they offer it at work...but I work in a hospital unit that gets a lot of high-risk patients. Sometimes the shot doesn't help and I wind up getting the flu anyways. But it does seem to work often enough for me to want the shot every year.

One year, I didn't get the flu, but I did get sick. But it took me a while to figure out that all I had was a cold. I hadn't had the common cold for over a decade, and I'd forgotten what it felt like. I just don't get a lot of colds for whatever reason, but if I get the flu, I'm down for at least a week. When I didn't get flu shots, I was guaranteed to get the flu at least once a year.

This thread was made on the exact day I started feeling miserable from what turned out to be a stomach virus. Not only do I never get sick (at least, from bacteria/disease stuff) but it took a full 7 days for me to recover properly. I don't even normally mind typical illness symptoms, but this was a special sort of disgust. I don't even mean that in the normal way that might come to mind with stomach virus, too, but I'll spare the details. :p

Very suspicious, though, this timing!

Still awaiting superpowers. It seems that when the illness left, I started to whine to myself about the cold and all the ice. When I was sick I was immune to any such trivial concerns. This seems a bit backwards, in fact!

First and last time I got a flu shot was 2008...never got one in 2009, didnt get one in 2010...the nurse taking my vitals today said I was due for one, my doctor never said squat about it. I don't think I will get one this year either! I don't get the flu...I get colds though occasionally. I used to get bronchitis every year but I thank Sarah Winchester for taking care of that problem for me when I worked for her as a tour guide! Micheal may know of her...or maybe a few of you do, she is quite famous, she and her house!
