Was possibly going to a movie...

Choice was Green Hornet or this one..

Midgen didn't like Green Hornet, so I thought I would ask if anyone liked this one

That's gotta be one of the most unfortunate movie title choices ever. Clicked on this thread expecting to see something about the Halloween movie that never happened:

Never. Happened.

Re: The Green Hornet

I'm pretty atypical. I like a lot of movies many others don't, and I often don't like movies others do (Avatar comes to mind).

Do your due diligence (read reviews and such) to make your own decision. You may like it.

I was hoping for something a little more.... serious? (maybe not the best choice of words)...

I have an innate fondness for religious horror (though this film is more action-y and less horror-y), so we went to see it as a double-feature with Tron: Legacy.

It's not great...but it's not the worst. thing. ever. either. It's kinda stupid, kinda goofy, and kinda fun. It's basically a made-for-Syfy movie on a bigger budget. If you have a taste for that kind of cheese, go for it.

Three more days 'till Halloween, Halloween, Halloween
Three more days 'till Halloween... Sil-ver Shamrock!

And yes, I too was expecting to see something about this movie.

Got the song stuck in your head and had to share the pain, eh?

Nah. The memories I have of this movie are now more akin to "I thought it was horrible at the time, now I look back at it with quirky fondness." I think it's because compared to some of the other Michael Myers movies, this movie is actually BETTER.

The thing I remember most about this movie? The trailer. Remember a time when movie trailers were shown regardless of the rating of movie you were watching? Back in the days when you had to stand up in the theater when they played the national anthem? There was a time when even a movie's trailer was enough to scare me as a kid. This trailer was one of them. (Carrie was another)

I was with you up until this point:

Where on earth was that? The U.P.? Can't say I ever encountered that, and I've been going to theaters since the late 60s.

Funny, Kirra, I'm having the same debate with myself about this evening. I have a free evening to myself, trying to decide if I should go see a movie. It's kind of between Season of the Witch and Tron, but I'd have to drive across town to see Tron, and I can see SotW in a cheap theater nearby. Not sure if that's enough of a draw, given what I've heard about it.

Yes, it was the U.P. But it wasn't an uncommon practice. It's why "Follow That Bird" starts with a fake-out of "Ladies and Gentlemen please rise for the *Grouch* national anthem..."

Just food for thought, this movie is currently rocking at 4% (Out of 100%) on rottentomatoes.

I foresee this movie inspiring drinking games in the future.

(For comparison, the gold bad-movie standard, Weekend at Bernie's II, is at 11%)

Some good quotes:

"It's The Seventh Seal meets Get Him to the Greek meets Lord of the Rings as if filtered through Uwe Boll's hack-tastic brain."

"Really, at its worst, the whole thing's a little bit like "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" - minus the jokes."

"Not a good film by any stretch of the imagination, but far from Cage's worst."

"The first reveal of Nicolas Cage sporting a blond wig with ringlets that makes him look like a Shirley Temple drag queen impersonator after a post-medieval-party-themed blackout is the sort of fright probably not intended by its makers."

Thank you, Midgen, I assure you..I do look at other reviews and make my decision based on other input also.

I asked for opinons on this movie, just to see what they were.

I did go see this movie and I liked it. That's my review.

I might wait for it to come to video, as I don't often catch movies in theater anyway, but this is enough of an endorsement for me.
