When I first heard the word, I thought it was just a term for an ******* who played Valve games online.

I have never heard of "gothic punk," but steampunk is analogous to cyberpunk. Wiki says it best:

Quote:
Steampunk is a sub-genre of fantasy and speculative fiction that came into prominence in the 1980s and early 1990s. The term denotes works set in an era or world where steam power is still widely used—usually the 19th century, and often Victorian era England—but with prominent elements of either science fiction or fantasy, such as fictional technological inventions like those found in the works of H. G. Wells and Jules Verne, or real technological developments like the computer occurring at an earlier date. Other examples of steampunk contain alternate history-style presentations of "the path not taken" of such technology as dirigibles, analog computers, or digital mechanical computers (such as Charles Babbage's Analytical engine); these frequently are presented in an idealized light, or with a presumption of functionality.

Steampunk is often associated with cyberpunk and shares a similar fanbase and theme of rebellion, but developed as a separate movement (though both have considerable influence on each other). Apart from time period and level of technological development, the main difference between cyberpunk and steampunk is that steampunk settings usually tend to be less obviously dystopian than cyberpunk, or lack dystopian elements entirely.

Various modern utilitarian objects have been modded by individual artisans into a pseudo-Victorian mechanical "steampunk" style, and a number of visual and musical artists have been described as steampunk.

Although many works now considered seminal to the genre were published in the 1960s and 1970s, the term steampunk originated in the late 1980s as a tongue in cheek variant of cyberpunk.

Wiki list of steampunk works

There's a con, too (last weekend!), Steamcon, that Phe and I would have loved to have attended, but Seattle is a bit too far to travel on a budget and with time limitations.

Thanks, it was an old leather duster I had sitting in the back of my closet that I heavily modified of course, funny thing is it was an after thought to make/modify that but it really did complete the outfit.

Farsky summed it up pretty good, as for a movie example Wild Wild West with Will Smith is a very good example of steampunk, vicotrian era with technology that didn't exist back then but made in a way to be conceivable with steam power, clockwork gears and cog, etc. Steamboy which is an anime movie is another example of it. Actually many the Final Fantasy series of games have a somewhat steampunk feel to them as well, FFVI especially sticks in my mind for the steampunk feel.

The Thief series of video games is also set in a Steampunk era with a bit o' medieval magic & swords thrown in. Great games.

I had the honor of having dinner with her while I was in Boston. In addition to being easy on the eyes, she's also gracious and a bright and intelligent conversationalist.

Similar thoughts went through my mind Mus. I decided to honor her choices and did not make a pass at her.

This doesn't mean I didn't want to.

Yes, the outfit looks great Sasandra, have a great time partying this weekend.

Devil in Disguise Lyrics:

You look like an angel
Walk like an angel
Talk like an angel
But I got wise

You're the devil in disguise
Oh yes you are
Devil in disguise

You fooled me with your kisses
You cheated and you schemed
Heaven knows how you lied to me
you're not the way you seemed

You look like an angel
Walk like an angel
Talk like an angel
But I got wise

You're the devil in disguise
Oh yes you are
Devil in disguise

I thought that I was in heaven
But I was sure surprised
Heaven help me I didn't see
The devil in your eyes

You look like an angel
Walk like an angel
Talk like an angel
But I got wise

You're the devil in disguise
Oh yes you are
Devil in disguise

You're the devil in disguise oh yes you are
Devil in disguise, oh yes you are
Devil in disguise, oh yes you are
Devil in disguise, oh yes you are

Actually funny thing about that Michael. I wanted to find a tail (with elastic bandish thingy) so it can stick out from below my dress. Unfortunately I couldn't find just the tail, and couldn't justify paying close to $100 for horns, wings, and trident looking staff thing.

I'll post piccies when I figure out how to work my Iphone thingy...

You know, you could make one pretty easily by cutting it out of craft felt and hot gluing it to a band of elastic.

Back in chemistry class (year 11) I was banned from using fire or sharp utencils for a reason. Did you know that disected class plants do burn if you can cut it fine enough?

While I think the expedition would be fun, I lothes to think what my "Oh! I wonder if... " instinct would take me if I tried.

Actually now that I'm typing about it... hmm... I wonder...

Lyd,

I am sure Michael would be happy to try to help you with the iPhone thingy.

As would I.

Especially if you paid either of us in cute Asian girl pictures. (Cute - I am not trolling for b00bs here.)

Then again, I believe most sane men would take that trade; Michael happens to be uniquely qualified because of whom he knows, though.

We went to a Halloween Costume party at Copeland's last night, and we ended up winning first prize! We had a great time, too! The drinks were excellent, as neither of us has done any drinking in quite some time. And the food was even better.

Here's a couple of pics of me and my sexy wench.

I'd be happy to try, but the one I know that taught me how to use the iPhone is, well, Katas.

Wow! Very nice.

That has elements of a Witch Hunter as they are portrayed in Warhammer Online. Only sexier.

Good job.

Lift-Off (brand) caulk and foam sealant remover (FSR) will take even Gorilla Glue off wood without damaging the finish. You just apply a little and roll it off.
