My current PC:

Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4ghz (oc'd) 4mb shared L2
Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTX 768mb
8gb Corsair DDR2, can't recall timing
680i Nvidia p5n32-e Sli
Monitor that maxes at 1650x1080

I'm thinking my current bottleneck is my processor. Thoughts? Would Q9550 be worth my time/money?

Dunno, but I may be looking at something, soon, too. My E6600 is similarly growing long in the tooth.

Actually, my system is quite similar overall. Not as much memory, but same specs on the video card. Different motherboard, bigger monitor, but really -- pretty similar.

My detail level in Champs is GPU bound, but I'm not going to get better framerates without upgrading the CPU.

If you want a decent upgrade for little money, do what I did. I got an Intel Q6600 quad-core and This Guy and then overclocked the sucker by 600 Mhz (I could probably safely do another 200 Mhz.... but I like to play it very safe). Works great. And I know for a fact I will never have overheating issues (Prime95 will torture a CPU more than any real-world application ever will... and running that for over 24 hours is a VERY good test).
