You guys spend an awful lot of time arguing about what is and isn't Christian. (or anything else)
The simplest way out is to simply say:
"It depends on what definition we use"

I could never be a Mormon. Several of my favorite things are prohibited.

"Is Christian" is not, as far as I know, technically correct, because Christian is a noun. In any case, his example does not hold because the primary point was not what part of speech Christian was, but the fact that he was relying on a word being in a name as proof that the organization referred to was necessarily represented by that word. As my DPRK example shows, this is not necessarily the case, thus, his example fails to demonstrate his intended point.

All of those are just ways of saying "which has the quality of Christianity", where it is a noun.

In any case, like I said, the important part isn't whether its a noun or an adjective; it's that dictionary definitions must conform to the reality of the belief, and that the fact that the word is present in a name doesn't automatically confer the qualities of the word on the thing named. If someone really wants to win a semantic victory, fine, go ahead. It doesn't affect the main point in the slightest; the noun/adjective thing is entirely ancillary.

Christian happens to be a noun in that sentence because is functions as a transitive verb in that case. Both Subject and Object are the same part of speech.

Chicken Sandwich, Washington Monument, Capitol Building, Pentagon Office, Military Brass ... and any of an infinite number of combinations of two nouns wherein one functions as an adjective are perfectly commonplace in English.

Which is a meaningless comparsion, because one is a religion expressly created as fictional, while the other is a religion that is not, and against which claims of its fictitiousness are based entirely on incredulity regarding its claims. Scientology, I cannot speak to the origins of so I won't compare it except to say that as far as I know it still compares favorably with the religion of pasta.

The entire "flying spaghetti monster" thing has always been a circular argument. It claims that other religions are no more believeable than any arbitrary religion made up on the spot, but that claim is based on the assumption that other religions are made up, in turn based on the pastafarian's incredulity, which is, of course, based on that same assumption.

That argument might hold water, if certain religions didn't have the fundamental assumption that all others are made up. So we are starting with the base assumption that all religions except one are made up. Which one is it? Of course it's yours, right? Well, that's what everyone else thinks.
