Anyone remember roughly what the timeline of the Glade has been? I've been around since Sunmoon's original board, but damned if I can even remember what year that was, let alone the timing of the various iterations since then.

'99? Can't remember when I took over, but I think it was five years later ('04).

The first Glade Rebooted was in 2005 around May or June.

It started in the fall of '99. I only remember because my 'join date' was 12/99. Damn I've know you mooks for over 10 years. Sheesh!

I joined the original Glade in February of 2000. And it had been around for at least a few months before that.

I honestly don't remember when I started browsing the Glade other than it was shortly after I started playing EQ, which was on 8/6/00.

I think I joined in 01 or 02... I know I had several years before Sunmoon "stepped down".

IIRC, it's something like:

1999 - Shaman's Crucible founded (Mung[?])
1999 - Ranger's Glade founded (Sunmoon)
Late 1999/Early 2000 - Shaman's Crucible transfered to Sunmoon
Mid-to-late 2004 - FarSky becomes mod
Early 2005(?) - Sunmoon sells out to OGaming.
Jun-Julyish 2005 - Shaman's Crucible jumps ship from interealms
Jun 17 2005 - Glade 2.0 starts at boardzero
Jun ?? 2008 - Glade 2.0 database lost
Jul 1 2008 - Glade 3.0 created at boardzero
May 17 2009 - Glade 3.0 dies
May 19 2009 - backup board set up at gladerebooted.mybb3.org (a.k.a. Glade 3.5)
Sept 2 2009 - Glade 4.0 operational on Dash's VPS (Hostmonster? Bluehost?)
Jun 11 2010 - Backup mybb3.org board dies
Aug 30 2010 - Mook migrates Glade 4.0 to his Mediatemple VPS

I don't have a very exact cronology for the earlier stuff. It could probably be narrowed down further by poking around for a few hours on web.archive.org, but it's being a little b@#$% right now.

There was some temp hosting between the OGaming-era interealms and Glade 2.0, hence Kaffis Mark V instead of Mark IV. Maybe he knows exactly when/where that was. I can't remember. Tizzers (holy ****, blast from the past) created her own board on that same host as I recall.

IIRC, Glade 3.0 was lost sometime around May '09. It was going up and down a lot, before it finally just disappeared.

Dash's 4.0 account was born on Jun 1 2009. The rest of the accounts start on Sep 2. And there's this:

Thanks for the updates.

That was Sept. 2, eleven days ago. A follow-up email sent the next day was not returned.

So that may be about right. Kaffis was Mk III on Glade 3.0, so we definitely had a temp board between Glade 3.0 and Glade 4.0; I just can't remember where it was. I'll see if I can pull an internet necromancy rabbit out of my hat when I have some more time.

Update:

Our temp board between 3.0 and 4.0 was gladerebooted.mybb3.org. Corolinth originally set it up for the PBP forums, I think. It went down around Jun 11, 2010. Currently all of subdomains of mybb3.org get stuck in a redirect loop:

lol

Edit:

More reconstruction:

Looks like Glade 3.0 died on May 17 or 18 2009. The mybb3 board was up on May 19

Edit: Okay, WTF just happened? There was a reply here from Kaffis explaining his numbering system, and it disappeared while I was replying to it.

Edit 2: Seriously, I went back in my history just to be sure:

Kaffis Mark V wrote:
Actually, I might've "corrected" my numbering scheme in the shift from 3.0 to 4.0. Because I'm pretty sure the "extra" one came from Farsky's host-jumping prior to 2.0. IIRC, I was Kaffis at the temporary and quickly abandoned one, and with 2.0 I decided to tack the Mark II on. The correction was a protest to what I felt was an incorrect numbering system. =)

Ah. Yeah, there was host jumping before we landed on BoardZero. I haven't found any trace of it yet, though.

I was misplacing the mybb3 board in my mental timeline, and when I saw your post, remembered that I had, indeed, been Kaffis Mark IV for a brief time.

Holy cow I had forgotten about her, that name brought back memories as soon as I heard it.

It is hard to believe I have been around for over 10 years I joined in like Dec or January 2000/2001

Was it really '99? I thought it was sooner than that. I was playing Everquest in 5th year of Highschool (we had 5 in Ontario back then, I'm not stupid :P) which I guess was in 2000. I'm pretty sure I joined the Glade fairly early in my career so maybe the board was still fairly new when I joined. I thought it was older!

Well, '99 was EQ1 Beta, wasn't it? Full release in 2000, Kunark in 2001?

I thought the original Glade was a newsgroup (or mailing list?) and converted to a standard web board around Sept 99. I joined in Nov 99.

Did anyone ever find out what happen to Art and boardzero just out of sheer curiousity?

I think Art just stopped caring about boardzero and focused on other business ventures that were making him quite a bit of money. I used to chat with him some online.

I joined the original Glade in 2000. I want to say April, because that is when I started playing Everquest, but I'm not sure I had decided on my main until a month after. And even then, I might not have had any reason to hit the Glade yet.
