The iPad "HD" version of this game client is much better than the android version.

The android version I installed on my nexus s 'force closes' about every 10 plays or so. The ads are more than a little annoying.

The iPad version is much more playable, but does have one major flaw. For some reason fast task switching does not work. The game has to re-load every time you select it from the task menu.

They really need to make a web client for this so it can be played on PC too.

I haven't had a force close yet, but it seems like this app sucks battery on my Incredible like nothing else. Have any Android players noticed this?

Yeah. The iOS version seems pretty well done. I'm guessing it's still NewToy code. Then, Zynga bought NewToy, and I think the android version is since that. And its coding sucks ***.

I've had to reinstall the android version twice in a week. The first time it would crash every time it opened. The second time it stopped updating. It's hard to play when the client never thinks it's your turn, or worse refuses to acknowledge you have a game at all.

As soon as my iPad arrives, the android version is going away.

i've removed it from my android phone until they fix the app.

I'll be limited to playing when I have my iPad near an open WiFi.

Edit: Geez, and this thing is a battery hog on the iPad too. It's cut my battery life significantly since I installed it yesterday... They need to build in some controls for frequency checks, etc...

I say Midgen infected my iPhone with a general suckitude virus, because I too am getting stomped more than I'm used to. Or else a lot of my usual opponents have brought their A games while I seem to be trying my best to be like Arizona professional sports teams... :p

Words with Friends Rules wrote:
Words with Friends RulesOverall Objective:
Players exchange turns forming words horizontally or vertically on the board, trying to score as many points as possible for each word.

Tile Placement:
•The first word must be placed so that 1 of the tiles is on the star in the center of the board.
•Every word following that must be placed so that at least 1 tile is shared from an existing word on the board.
•Tiles can only be placed in the same line vertically or horizontally each turn.
•Tiles can be placed so that multiple new words are formed simultaneously using neighboring letters.
•Words cannot be placed if they create an illegal word using neighboring letters.
•All words labelled as a part of speech (including those listed of foreign origin, and as archaic, obsolete, colloquial, slang, etc.) are permitted with the exception of the following: proper nouns (words always capitalized), abbreviations, prefixes and suffixes standing alone or words requiring a hyphen or an apostrophe.

Scoring:
•Double the value of any tiles that were played this turn on a DL space, and triple the value of any tile that was played on a TL space this turn. Do not double the value of tiles on DL and TL spaces for tiles that were played on previous rounds.
•Add up the values of all letters in the word, even if some were played on a previous turn.
•Double the value of the word if any tiles this turn were played on a DW space (and double it again in the case were 2 DW spaces were played upon). Triple the value of the word if any tiles this turn were played on a TW space (and triple it again if 2 TW spaces were used). Do not multiply words if tiles on DW or TW spaces were used from a previous turn.
•It is possible to create multiple words with the same play. In this case, score each new word separately, including bonuses, and sum all of the new words together.
•35 bonus points are awarded whenever a player uses all 7 tiles on their rack in a single turn.

End Game:
•The game ends when one player plays every tile in his rack, and there are no tiles remaining to draw from. The game could also end if three successive turns have occurred with no scoring and as long as the score is not zero-zero.
•After the last tile is played, the opposing player will lose points equal to the sum of the value of his remaining tiles. This amount is then awarded to the player who placed the last tile.
•In the case of a tie, the player who had the highest score before the game ended is the winner.

Dictionary:
Words With Friends has more than 173,000 acceptable words for use in the game. Our list is based on the Enhanced North American Benchmark Lexicon (ENABLE), a public domain list used by many word games. Tap here to visit the site where the original ENABLE list resides. We've added a few of our own words to game such as ‘zen’ and ‘texting,’ and more words may be added in the future.

I'm kinda annoyed at the number of words in a Scrabble dictionary that don't work in the game.

There are definitely two sides to that coin. There are a BUNCH of two and three letter non-words allowed, which I appear to be quite adept at exploiting for triple word scores :p

That'd annoy the hell out of me too lol. I mean, the game accepts Qi, but won't let me play Henge?

From the 'it pays to know the rules' file...

I just lost a game where I was ahead by 60'ish points, and had a stash of high point tiles yet to play.

Apparently Kirra played her last tiles on an 8 point word (VATx2), but because the value of my remaining tiles was subtracted from my score and added to hers, it was enough to put her ahead...

The Rules wrote:

Moral(s) of this story

- Know the rules
- Don't save high value tiles for the end game
- Pay attention to how many tiles are left
- Don't get cocky ! :p

I wouldn't whine too much, Midge, you just kicked the hell outta me and I've had an 85% win rate for months.

had someone score a 176 pt word on me the other day. ugh. I normally beat her by an average of 100 pts. She stomped me by 250 that game. NO idea what happened. I think she had 7 words over 50 pts.

I had this happen to me. I ended up having to uninstall and reinstall before I could see the game again.

That game ended 322 to 565. It was a massacre. First play of the game was "Month" for a modest 22, second play I laid down "Kindlier" for 65 points. She responded with "Creaming" hitting the "M" on a triple letter score, and hitting a Double & tripple word score + the 35 point bonus. Over 260 pts in the game by on the 3rd play.

Reading Riov's post makes this sound like Scrabble. Is it Scrabble, with a different name because of copyright issues?

The Scrabble app sucks. Words with friends is much better.
