US Attorney General Eric Holder and his brother failed to pay the property taxes on their childhood home in Queens, which they inherited last August after their mother died, The Post has learned.
And because their ailing mom, Miriam, was already behind on two quarterly tax bills when she succumbed to illness on Aug. 13, the charges went unpaid for more than a year -- growing to $4,146.

It wasn't until The Post confronted Holder last week about the delinquency that he and younger brother William Holder finally paid up Friday, including $73.14 in interest.

You think maybe it's time to streamline the tax code? When this many smart, well-educated, wealthy people can't get it right, why do they insist on continueing with the farce that is the US tax code?

I think everyone agrees that the current tax code is cumbersome and messy.

The issue is that there are very fundamental differences in approach for how to fix it, and it's a huge undertaking that is potentially politically risky.

That said, I completely agree with you that it needs to be streamlined and changed.

I doubt the property tax issue is one of the U.S. tax code, which, nonetheless, needs to be fixed.

Of course it's quite possible the NY state and NYC codes need a lot of work too.
