Stupid UN. I just KNEW they'd be nothing but worthless lickspittles when an Animal King showed up.

I've been enjoying the single player quite a bit. Multi is fun, but not tied to the story in any way that I can tell so far.

Oh, I must interject that the marketing guys at Valve are geniuses. It's a good thing their talents are not being wasted on things like curing cancer. It wouldn't provide them a challenge.

Oonagh picked this up for me today. Hope I'll get a chance to give it a go tonight.

What's the verdict on the retail box? Disc or Dl code?

Well, beaten the single player...much awesomeness.

Can't wait for some friends to get it so we can go through the co-op.

They really stepped up their writing this time around. An hour in, and they're already knocking it out of the park.

Hmm. Got myself to my first real stumper so far. I'm scratching my head on the first one with the vertical light bridges and the turrets guarding the cube.

I have a feeling I'm supposed to get up to the platform above the button, and there's a portal-friendly spot on the wall across from the platform, but I just can't make the jump un-aided. The faith launchers don't hurl me at anything I can make a portal on to give me the extra oomph, and there's no portal-able floor tiles I've seen, including in the glass-walled room (which I can get into, as well).

Gonna take a break and come back later with fresh eyes. If I've got it right, but am just klutzing the jump (from the portal to the platform), go ahead and say so; otherwise, please either spoiler advice or leave me to it. =)

I know the puzzle you are on, but I am having trouble remembering where the button was placed. However...
Spoiler:
...if you are talking about getting to the platform above the mid-point of the two faith-launchers, make use of the light bridge as a "back-stop".

Though I haven't gotten too far in yet, this is promising news.

I am glad to hear that there are some challenging puzzles upcoming. So far all is pretty much similar to the first one. Fun as hell, but I am looking for some more mind bending puzzles.

Haven't touched on the multi-player yet. How did they make Portal into a multiplayer type game?

Co-op puzzles require four portals to complete and often a heavy reliance on your partner. You play as robots. They're really fun.

I'm around Chapter 7 or 8, and got stumped by one. It was 1 AM though so I gave up for the time being. You have to really think for some of them.

Yeah, fresh eyes helped me on that one. Came back, got to where I was, looked at it for about 30 seconds, and went, "Oh."

Loving getting backstory on Aperture Science, now. Potato batteries. Lol.

Do you think we could power a chip with a potato that does better than that?

Okay, just finished up the single player. Stayed up way too late Friday doing the first 3 segments of the co-op with my brother.

Does the PC version have DRM that I'm going to regret if I install it ?

I don't believe so. It's just like playing any other game on Steam, like Counter-strike or whatever.

The only DRM Valve does is Steam authentication.

I'm calling it early, with supreme confidence. Cave Johnson is the best video game character of 2011. And I know there are other strong story games, like Deus Ex 2, on the way. Doesn't matter. J.K. Simmons knocked it out of the park.

Finally was able to pick it up this weekend and played co-op for a few hours last night, definitely an awesome game, the co-op mode is so much fun and some of the puzzles are definitely challenging, I am annoyed however that with PSN being down there's no way for me to install the free copy of the PC version onto my laptop because steam first requires you to link your PSN account to your steam account thru the game, but despite the controls being awkward it's not too bad since it's not a twitch game.

I am wondering however once the PSN comes back up if you can play co-op between the free PC version and PS3 version, like if I can let a friend play on my PS3 and I play on my laptop.

Dollars to donuts the answer is "only if your friend has a copy."

I believe that works, actually, but maybe not if you played the PS3 version yourself first.
