I'm just feeling incredibly alone right now.

I pulled some muscles in my back last week and have spent most of the intervening time at home, alone.

If this is what retirement is going to be like I'm not sure I want to anytime soon.

Find a hobby or hobbies. Find others interested in the same hobby. If it turns out to be a woman who is available, so much the better. :)

I recommend getting a medical marijuana prescription, a grow license, and investing in a good bong.

But, that's just me ...

The major thing MaryJane did for me was to give me the munchies. I don't need that, really I don't.

Live over here in Philly. It is too crazy for retirement. There is alot you could do.

Loneliness stinks. I want you to find companionship! *hugs*
In the interim, have you thought about getting a dog? Dogs are awesome. Get a smart breed and its almost like human companionship without the annoying parts.
*hughughug!*
I'm sorry you are lonely, Micheal. I wish you had someone to snuggle with and tell jokes to and stuff.
Grandkids are just around the corner though, no? You have that to look forward to if nothing else. I hear being a grandparent is pretty awesome!

That is up to my daughter, and she isn't too fond of the idea. Truth be told I'm not sure she's ready to be a good mom and I'd rather have no grandkids for awhile than grandkids neglected now. She's not too fond of me right now as she takes anything I say as a personal attack on her and her choices, even if its "How are you doing?"

She will grow out of that. And I can't tell you how many times I have heard parents completely balk at the idea of their children procreating and then being utterly amazed at the transformation once the baby is born.

Well, clearly, that's just shorthand for "How are you doing, now that you ignored all my advice and totally screwed up your life, am I right?"

The pulled muscles make it the suck. When you feel up to it, get out and enjoy all that fine California livin'.

Sorry you're feeling the way you are right now, Mike. It might not be much consolation but at least we'll always be here to waste some time with you when you're bored :)

Hope you heal up soon and get out a little more!

Lonely is no fun. Neither is bored, which you also seem to be.

It is important to have or develop interests. For instance, between gardening, fixing decades of deferred home maintenance, trying to get really fit, and my sailboat, I am busy much of the time. People live longer with things to keep them busy and active.

Keep in touch with your old friends and make new ones. Remember that friends are the family we choose. Volunteering, continuing education classes, clubs and churches are good places to meet new friends. And if a new friend gradually becomes more, so much the better.

This is a good link on how to have a meaningful retirement:

http://www.aahsa.org/section.aspx?id=12153

And remember you have friends here who can listen and give cyber hugs.

Cyber hugs are great, I just want some physical ones, but not too tight, right now.

I do have hobbies and activities, but most of them either require going somewhere or are very solitary.

My deferred maintenance is actually one of them. I'm paying one of my good friends to do a lot of the physical part of it for two reasons, 1) he's pretty darn good at it, and 2) he needs the money and would much rather earn it than get a handout.

I've been doing the keep in touch, re-establish touch, and making new friends, unfortunately right now, until I'm good to drive again (Norco).

I've been thinking of taking some classes. Sacramento Community College just opened a satellite about a mile from me, I need to check out what they are offering.

If some of you folks didn't live so far away I'd be spending more time with you. Truthfully, I know more about many of you and have more in common with you than I do about a lot of my physically near friends.

I'll check out the link Squirrel Girl, thank you.

Yes yes! Now that I'm not ginormously pregnant and in the middle of planning a wedding and stuff, I could actually entertain you and take you around town and show you the ante-bellum homes and museums and stuff!!
So...when ya coming again? Missed you at New Years.

Just a cute video. Might not apply to your situation too much, but yeah.

Make video about being alone.

Include 20 people in the credits.

Sounds like MMO time.

Well, you certainly won't be lonely that way...you'll have at least one friend wanting to get close to you.
