Nothing against the show (though I lost interest in it really quickly), but how the hell does Chuck keep getting renewed?

Honestly, if it had been the Fourth and Final season, I might have watched it.

I'm not sure. I just watched all four seasons in relatively rapid succession, and Season 4 was the best of them.

It may well have been. But after Season 3, it was apparent to me they had run out of material. If the 4th had been the final, I might have given it a try. As it was, I expected them to milk the show for more ways to maintain the status quo and be completely predictable.

Actually, I see rather the opposite.

I was worried that the heavy amounts of character development and change they made for season 4 would ruin the formula that made chuck work. It did not. Chuck and Sarah are a happy couple - happy couples are the deathknell of drama shows - and yet it still works. (They're getting married in the season 4 finale.) Morgan Grimes is successful, brave, and competent. Chuck is a successful and independant member of the intelligence community that no longer gets into trouble due to his inexperience. Elly has come to terms with Chuck being a spy and is even getting involved in the Intersect project herself. I, too, figured they would maintain the status quo and it would get stale, but they didn't. They let the characters progress naturally and let them grow. My worries that the show would lose what made it fun if they did that proved unfounded, they keep finding new ways to keep it working.

It could be after Chuck and Sarah's wedding at the end of this season that it will run out of gas, in which case it's nice they're winding it up. But so far, despite all the changes, it has not.

You'll note that I did not watch Season 4. All of my commentary covered my expectations for Season 4 based on suffering through the latter half, particularly, of Season 3.

I actually didn't watch the last 5 episodes of Season 3... I find the finales of Chuck have, by and large, been disappointing compared to the early parts of the season.

Chuck is a good show- it got renewed in the interim by the subway sponsorship, but it won "best show" by votes on the Hulu ladder this year, so it must have a fairly sizable fan base.

That's not fair for the one season that they were cut short by the writer's strike.

Bolded the reason why the italicized portion is growing increasingly disconnected with the financial viability of a show. The Networks still operate on the advertising they can sell based on Nielson ratings. Even digital outlets that monetize viewership like Hulu aren't really considered a valid business model to make programming decisions on.

The concept of Chuck is ... not friendly. I had to force myself to sit through the first episode three times on different occasions before I finally decided to watch it. (And even then, it was made easier due to having picked up White Collar in the interrim, and suddenly the guy playing Bryce Larkin mattered.) Once I actually got into it, I couldn't put it down.

As someone who has been a faithful follower of Chuck since Season 1, I have been eagerly awaiting for a good finale... After the budget cuts it took after Season 2, IMHO it went downhill from there. The first 2 Seasons, I have to rank as one of my all time favorite shows. I can get off work, light up a big fattie and watch some chuck without needing much Brain chemistry and usually laugh my *** off.

Now with less and less of the Buy More and more spy, I miss the humor Chuck had, its still there in miniscule pieces but not like the first 2 seasons. Im glad it will get a Finale it deserves. I miss Chuck being a complete baffon (Reminds me of myself, probably why I love Chuck so much)

To answer everyones question, every single year, chucktv.net, savechuck.net etc etc, (wont list them all) have save Chuck days. Season 2, was during 1 particular Day, all the Chuck fans were suppose to go to Subway and buy a footlong, subway also had a comment box on Chuck. chucktv.net lists all the NBC exec's name and address who to write etc. 2 tuesdays ago, a campaign was put together during Chuck if your not a Nielsen viewer, to follow the Nielsen Family twitter account, and tweet about the commercials adding some positive spin on the products to get them to sell to get NBC more advertisement money. Chuck winning on HULU definately helped (GO GO Macros and shell scripting, PC has to do something while Im at work )

As much as I love Chuck, I will be glad its getting a Finale, that knows about the Finale, and hopefully has a good ending, although I think i might burst waiting after tonight for next season when they say its the biggest Cliffhanger EVER!
