Watched this last night.

Loved it. Of the three movies I saw, Thor was my favorite. I was pretty unfamiliar with the character (Norse god, thunder, hammer, etc.) but I felt that the story was pretty tight, there wasn't a lot of wasted exposition and asinine "humor" (I'm looking at YOU Dark of the Moon). FX were fun, and that big golem thing was pretty badass.

I liked the science/magic explanation of bifrost and whatnot. There weren't really any moments in the movie that strained my suspension of disbelief. (No "Really Movie? That's what you're goin with? Come the **** on." moments.)

All in all, well done, fun, and Hopkins and Hemsworth were fabulous. Also, that Heimdall dude? Three Words: LIKE A BOSS!

I seem to remember Heimdall was kind of a thing when the movie was in production. A black Norse god! Which really doesn't make any sense at all, because... black people hadn't been invented, yet as far as that part of the world knew back then.

He acted that role like he invented badass.

Yeah, Penny Arcade made a comic and webisode of this.

The way I figure it is this: Heimdall was always black. But the ancient Norse either did not know this, or chose to omit this and instead believe he was white. A primitive viewpoint of this would make perfect sense. Real world example: much of the world portrays Jesus Christ as an anglo saxon, forgetting (purposefully or not) the fact he was born a Jew.

Stringer Bell brings the pain.

Thor's hair is red. Sif's hair is blond. Marvel **** up plenty of Norse mythology already.

Yep, and for the most part straight out of the 60s and 70s comics.
