Sometime during the 80s or 90s, I read a sci-fi paperback about an astronaut who crash-landed on some planet and eventually grew to have magical powers like the inhabitants. There were 2 books, perhaps more, in the series and I remember a scene in one of the books regarding the astronaut's right to claim residence in one of the upper floors of a building only if he could levitate himself up to it.

Anyone know what I'm talking about here?

No idea but when you find out, let me know. I'd like to read it!

It's not ringing a bell. Although searching around did prompt a bit of nostalgia when I came across some pages for the Blackstar cartoon.

If no one here can help, you should head over to LibraryThing and pose your question in the Name That Book group.

Christopher Stasheff's The Warlock In Spite of Himself. There are over ten books in the series. The last one came out about ten years ago.
