Well...I put in 1000.....got back 1500, and still have $1200 in bitcoins (approx 75) to play around with. I didn't fail :)

I'll have a hard time trusting mtgox in the future, though, I might play around with the numbers since the next month has 0 transaction fees...


I think I'm gonna buy a laptop with my profit :)

By the way, what is namecoin?

It's just like Bitcoin (they forked the code) but you can also register decentralized domain names that nobody can take from you, that have the '.bit' extension. Of course right now you have to manually edit your computer's DNS settings, which is pretty horrible, but this is planned to be automated in the future in the installation. Namecoin is about 2.5 months old. It's kind of obscure compared to Bitcoins, but not that much. There's a wiki for it, a sub-reddit, its own website, a pretty decent trading site, forums, and active dev team. It's also been in some newspaper articles and was endorsed by Wikileaks. It's a lot riskier than Bitcoin even, but I think it should be worth more than 3% of the value. I think it will be the only viable 'copycat' Bitcoin for a very long time. I predict that it will steal more of Bitcoin's market share in the months ahead. Again, like my past predictions, I could be totally wrong.

Mtgox had another glitch and two orders accidentally sold at about $2.50/BTC... the current going rate is $15.50. Luckily it was less than a Bitcoin in total, but it's still pretty bad. I wonder if the press will write about this one.

Sold a bunch more bitcoins for USD the other day at 13.70...few days later, it started to drop hard.


I've made $1500 in total profit trading bitcoins.


The going rate now is around $6.20 per bitcoin.



I won't be buying back for a while, it seems...if ever. It was fun while it lasted.

On a side note...been doing some exploring on the Tor network. The drug market amazes me. I don't think I'll ever fully understand why the price has gone soaring up and then back down with such a steady drug market. Maybe certain drugs are not in season currently....I wonder what is making the market move more...the drug dealers / customers, or bitcoin speculators, or legitimate bitcoin sales/purchases?

Two more major Bitcoin sites got hacked, and also the U.S. economic situation is making people not want to invest in risky ventures. I didn't expect it to drop so low, but I'm not extremely surprised. I'm keeping my Bitcoins for the long term so I would be at a loss if I sold now.

There needs to be better security at the exchanges and a bigger marketplace for bitcoin (it needs to be more user friendly) before I believe the real value of the bitcoin has any chance of skyrocketing.

I bet there will be a solidcoin bubble with a collapse that was like Namecoin's, before it evened out.

Well, I was mining bitcoins with BTC Guild, and GUI Miner.

Make an account on BTC guilds sister site sc.btcguild.com and create a new miner profile in GUI Miner, select "Other" and enter in the domain, leave the default port # and set up your worker name and password just like before.

Easy.



I had a few bitcoins left, I got 100 poker chips (http://betco.in/) and just bought about 200 solidcoins on this exchange: https://moonco.in/exchange/solidcoin




Been mining for about 3 hours now and already have mined 0.50 solid coin, which is lightyears faster than bitcoin mining. If these increase in value a bit and I exchange for bitcoins before the solid coin bubble bursts, it should be worth my while.

It is soooo damn annoying having to wait 5-7 f***** days to wait for my bank transfer to clear to dwolla. Then I'll have to wait even more days (longer perhaps, because of the weekend) before I can get money into mtgox. Bitcoins are great and all once you have some, but it's a royal pain in the arse to obtain them.



Oh, and BTC Guild is shutting SC Guild down.

I started mining solidcoins through hashrate.tk....it seems like I'm not getting awarded with nearly as many solid coins as I was with SC guild....not sure why, but it seems like I'm only getting about 1/3rd of what I would be getting with SC guild.

It amazes me how constant Namecoin prices have been in relation to Bitcoin. They are stuck at around 0.029 or 0.03 nmc/btc.

I never really got into namecoin, so I'm not sure what it's all about. I heard you use .bit domains with them but I have no idea how that works or why you would want to use that as a currency over bitcoin or solidcoin.


I'm thinking about starting a small business and selling some stuff for bitcoin / solidcoin, just as a way to simultaneously invest and stimulate the economy.

Yeah I bought a bunch at 7.75 and traded them all for solidcoins :)

I hope an exchange starts allowing solidcoin <-> dollar trades ASAP..
