This is along the lines of what I was thinking but the past couple times the boy has been over here I can't relax because I keep thinking what is he telling my son and/or influencing him on....what if he did kill that kitten? What if my son starts picking up on bad behaviors? What if he gets close to my son and starts stealing things or something when him and my son have a falling out?
But yes, I don't want the kid to be punished because of his environment...but I also understand that he's not an innocent angel either.....Hrmmm....
Well, it's your kid. But based on what you've said, the minor questions you have about him (with shaky evidence) are tempered with politeness, etc, and what's throwing it over the top is his situation at home. Would you feel the same way about him if his actions to date were the same but his parents and home life were wealthy, caring, and stable?
Anyway, it's not wrong for you to judge the kid by his folks or by minor items, or by major issues that you have shaky evidence for. It's your kid. I'm just saying that it sounds like I'd let them play at my house.
I think this is also good advice to consider. Certainly you want to be cautious. And probably talk with your son after anytime that they play together. And then the other thing (depending on the age of your kid, I forget how old he is) is that at some point, you have to trust in your own parenting. That your child will make the right decision and will eventually see, if indeed there is a big problem there, that this kid isn't someone he wants to hang around with, etc. Obviously that's tempered by your son's age, maturity, etc.
