So, I applied for a delivery job on...Friday, I think. Today I got an email in my spam folder about the job.

Quote:
Good Afternoon,

We apologize about the delay but we had a lot of applications and we
had to sort out and review each and every one. After reviewing your
application, we would like to congratulate you and extend a position
for you. We feel that you meet the requirements for the job. Like
stated, your duties with be but not restricted to delivering auto
parts to our clients.

In addition in order to continue the hiring process you will have to
fill out the required document. From the information you provide we
will be able to send you you’re W-2/W-9. We have decided to start out
at $16 and after 90 days you will be eligible for a raise and
benefits.

To finish the hiring process please fill out our online insurance form
(Link removed)

Once you complete that forms we will contact you with further
information, have you come it and set up a schedule, we look
forward to having you on our team.

Karen Lionette
Expert Deliveries, Inc.

I can't help but feel this is a scam of some sort because I never interviewed with these people. Why the **** would they offer the job to me without that? So, what do you think?

Reply asking for a phone number so you can confirm. Did you ever actually give an application to a company named Expert Deliveries, Inc.? If not, well...

It was a job posting on craigslist, actually. I'm going to go ahead and reply and ask for a phone number, though. And yeah, I did look that up and it also has me worried.

Yup, the best way to deal with unknown veracity when someone contacts you is to make the contact yourself through alternate means with a confirmed number.

The poor grammar alone would make me cautious.

That has scam written all over it.

Consider this, even if it wasn't a scam, would you really want to work for a company that just hired people without interviews? No matter how outstanding a candidate looks on paper, I wouldn't want to hire a person without first person contact nor would I want to work for a company that did. Think of who you co-workers might end up being.

The job market is rough right now, and while I agree work is work sometimes, I don't see many upsides to this letter and a whole lots of potential messes.

I dunno. $16 an hour for delivering auto parts seems pretty sweet. But yeah. I'm pretty sure it's a scam, but I am pretty **** desperate for a job at this point so I was hoping against hope.

If this doesn't pan out, maybe try LK's McDonald's in Mississippi? Apparently they're understaffed in the Ice Cream Machine Cleaning department.

Well, that will solve his money problems for 5-10, get him on a national list and teach him a trade.

I was 99.9999% sure that Lenas linked that in his first post but it's not there anymore.

Yeah I actually deleted it like two seconds after you replied because while similar, I doubted it was the exact same thing :p

I emailed them and never heard anything. So I'm pretty sure it was a scam.
