Chocolate Chips were somehow left out of an 800 cookie batch of chocolate chip cookies.

you could get fancy, and call them 'no chocolate chip cookies'...

or get really fancy and drizzle some chocolate over them, or dunk them in chocolate milk =)

At this point they are 'Butter Drop Do' cookies, the recipe whatserbucket was making when she added chocolate chips and invented the toll house cookie.

Yeah, you're supposed to melt the chocolate and then fold it into the dough. Whatsherbucket skipped the melting and the chocolate chip cookie was born

From what I can find, the original recipe from the 1700s did not have chocolate in it.

by Amelia Simmons (1796) wrote:
Rub one quarter of a pound butter, one pound sugar, sprinkled with mace, into one pound and a quarter flour, add four eggs, one glass rose water, knead it stiff, shape it to your fancy, bake 15 minutes.

Old-Fashioned Butter Drop Cookies

Ingredients:
1 3/4c Flour
1/2ts Baking powder
1/2ts Baking soda
1/2c Butter (On Sale)
1 c Sugar
1 Egg (On Sale)
1 ts Vanilla
1/4c Milk

Directions:
Preheat oven to 375F.
Sift together the flour, baking powder, and baking soda.
Set aside Cream together teh butte and sugar until very light.
Add egg and blend well; mix in vanilla.
Gradually add dry mixture to creamed mixture.
Slowly blend in milk.
Drop cookies on a greased cookie sheet, placing each 2" apart.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes.


Later recipes do have some form of chocolate/coco.

While that may serve as a good cover up story, how do you forget to put in chocolate chips into chocolate chip cookies?

Especially when you're making 800 of them. You'd have like 5-10 lbs of chocolate chips lying around, they'd be kinda obvious...
