Qapla', Thorin son of Thrain. May you bring honor to the House of Oakenshield and die in battle so that you may meet your ancestors in Sto'vo'Kor. You shall not be an incompetent to'pah. Your bat'leth shall strike true! And Fek'lhr will ne'er see you in Gre'thor, where the dishonored go when they die. Your Bird of Prey will strike fear in the hearts of the Federation.

Qapla'!

I'm seriously disappointed in at least 3 of those beards.

What a ****' motley crew.

Thorin needs to be about three times as old, and ... WTH is that in his hand? I just never picture my Dwarves with anything than more conventional-looking weapons. I'm such a traditionalist.

I'll reserve judgement. I can always read the book again if it's less than stellar. The dorfs are all posing on some sort of green screen and they look a little out of place. My question is who is playing Bilbo and what is he going to look like?

A movie can't succeed strongly without main female characters. Maybe this will be an exception though.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy did just fine with no female leads.

Arwen, Galadriel, Eowyn, and Merry would like to have a word with you.

Perhaps Jackson will insert some female leads. Some of those dwarven beards look pretty un-manly...

Martin Freeman, A.K.A. Dr. James Watson in BBC's outstanding recent Sherlock (2010) series. I don't think he could be better cast short of finding a way to make Ian Holm 30 years younger again.

They were minor characters. I said leads, not minor characters that happened to be female. Eowyn comes close, but she still only has about 20 minutes of screen time per movie. Arwen has less than that across all three movies and Galadriel even less.

If they don't exist in the book they have to be added. If they have to he added then the internet has to listen to the purists whine. While Lotr purest are easy marks and can be driven into fits of sheer apoplexy by six letters, I'm sure Jackson's staff is still sorting though the hate mail from the first series.

"Bombadil" is 8 letters.
