I applied for a job on Monday, got a call yesterday and got the job today. But **** this job. I'm back to doing phone support but for Verizon Wireless this time instead of AT&T. God damn it all to hell.

Yeah, I know. Thanks. I'm hoping it won't be as bad this time, but I honestly doubt it. At least I get six weeks of paid training instead of the two I got with AT&T.

Congratulations.

Watch that whole "speak your mind" thing working the phones. That won't go over too well.

In the mean time, channel your frustrations into taking steps to put yourself on a better path so you can find work doing something you hate less. :p

That's kinda what got me fired from AT&T.

I'm with Midgen on the other point, though. Channel your energy into making this your stepping stone to something better. Remember all the crap you and others have been dealing with about needing a current job to be considered for a new one, and bite your tongue enough that you can hold onto this one long enough to find something more fulfilling.

Go to North Dakota, if you don't mind getting really damn dirty. Oilfields up there are hiring anyone who passes the still breathing and not a homicidal maniac test.

Wow, 6 weeks to train someone on phone support? Dont you just end using a script and general questions in the end?

A man who quotes JJ in casual conversation? *swoon*

Also, congrats Raltar...sort of. Try to see this as a temporary thing, a stepping stone. Good luck.

What? he wrote the song! Even if you prefer Janice's performance... besides the two were lovers, I doubt either of them would mind sharing credit.

I have no idea. All I know is that it is paid training for the first six weeks, then I get a raise and start taking calls under supervision. After two weeks of that, I get another raise and I'll be taking calls on my own.

It's important to make sure you don't accidentally help someone.

I don't deny Janice performed definitive version of the song.
(in much the same way that Hendrix is credited with defining All Along the Watchtower)
