http://www.chinahush.com/2009/10/21/ama ... -in-china/

The page is mostly pictures with captions, so I won't bother quoting it. If Democrats think Cap'N'Trade is a good thing for the environment, they need to think again. That just means more manufacturing will got China because it's too expensive here and that will only intensify the crap in these pictures. Good luck getting the Chi-Comm's leadership to give a crap about global warming.

That is so sad.
Makes me think that as a consumer my demand for cheap stuff is helping fuel stuff like that.
Will I stop buying cheap stuff? Probably not.
But I will be looking carefully at any frozen fish and making sure they didn't come from China....

I'm not as worried about China's manufacturing. Most of what they manufacture is drone crap. I'll worry if China makes inroads into the places where American manufacturing is still the best productivity per worker in the world...stuff like jet engines and surgical robots.

Of course, with the way things are going here these days, I may not be worry-free for long.

You can not improve their environment with out first raising the standard of their living in the poorer areas where these photos are taken. You can not raise the standard of living with out first raising the cost of goods. But raising the cost of goods makes them no longer competitive in the 3rd world market.

Catch 22 really, China has a long way to go before it's ready to be environmentally aware. It has been trying quiet hard and there's already quite big differences in the big cities.
