Ok, idea for a thread game came to mind as I was walking to the bathroom at work...

Post a well known catch phrase or saying of anyone real or fictional (cartoon characters, video game characters, movie action heroes, etc) and the person who gets it right posts another. Perhaps this can be expanded to use well-known past or present ad slogans.

Lets keep it honest and lay off the search engines. ;)

I'll start with one of each:

Saying: "Wowsers!"

Ad slogan: Where's the beef? (BONUS: name the person who said this)

ayup. First one is part of a repeated exchange between Starbuck and Adama:

"What do you hear"
"Nuttin' but the rain."
"Then grab your gun and bring in the cat."
"Boom, boom, boom."

Vindicarre. you're up.

How is what TheRiov posted a well know catch phrase? If you have never watched the show, you would never have heard of it.

Yeah, I was thinking more along the lines of well established characters who are known for a certain saying or phrase. Something that character said often, or was his\her trademark

ie. Holy (something), Batman.

This isn't about one-off quotes from movies\TV shows.

it was repeated many times through the series, or I would not have used it.

It references military "jodies".
The first line can be thought of as a request for a situation report. The second line 'nothing but the rain' is reference to the "calm before the storm" - bad. If all you can hear is the rain, then prepare for attack. The third line is arm up, and batten down the hatches. The last, "Boom boom boom", would then be incoming artillery.

Catchphrase: I want my two dollars!
Slogan: I liked it so much I bought the company.

Better off Dead

Sy Greenbloom, president of Spatula City.

:D

Edit: Bleh, you're probably thinking of another actual real-world company. So I guess I am only half right.

Vindi:

I know I have heard the slogan, I just can't think of the answer.

Also, don't all feel the need to post both a phrase and a slogan. I was just giving an example of both in my initial post.

Wasn't the 'I liked it so much I bought the company' from a Remington Shaver commercial?
