To say this movie was bad would be insulting to bad movies. I do not know where to start; wait yes I do... I waited all week to watch this piece of ****. Now that I have seen it... I think i would have better spent my time if I had instead gotten my junk stuck in a vaccuum cleaner.

I think the 'Carcass' song 'Vomitted Anal Tract' was actually a premonition of this movie.

I disagree entirely. Excellent. Better than Inception.

Watched it in the theater, liked it enough to put it on my Netflix queue, and should be watching said disc in about 3 hours or so.

Clearly, it's not for everyone, but then - what movie is?

Not this one obviously. This was on the blockbuster online free trial...

Mixed feelings. The movie being done from mostly from the point of view of the mad girl made me unsure of anything being real. Were the small bits of reality we saw, real, or from someone else's point of view, and were they sane?

The ending reinforced that idea.

It entertained me, made me think. It was definitely worth the buck at red box.

Micheal, my take on it was that reality pretty much got suspended moments after her arrival in the facility; to return only in the final few seconds of the movie. I believe everything that happened in between was layered fantasy/willful self-delusion. I also don't believe the girl was mad, but that she was delivered into her fate as a purely retaliatory measure.

That said, I must admit I've still not re-watched it, so my recollections are based purely on the single viewing in the theater. Watching the DVD today, so I may re-visit this thread later if the re-watching changes my thinking in some way.

It struck me as an instance where incomprehensibility was mistaken for depth.

Re-watched yesterday.
1 - nope, the girl isn't crazy. She was taken to the institution specifically to get the lobotomy performed so she wouldn't be able to tell anyone what really happened that night.
2 - while the dancing girls overlay was indeed a fantasization of the girl's current circumstances, the events were not total daydream. She did in fact stab an orderly, start a fire and try to escape.

Conversely, I feel it was an instance where depth was mistaken for incomprehensibility.

I thought it was comprehensible and still didn't like it. The combat scenes were videogamey and boring, and the whorehouse seemed to add little to the story.

Beautifully constructed and shot though - the technical skill it embodied was awesome.
