You know, that almost made sense when you explain it that way.

Disclaimer: Link may allegedly contain spoilers, but if you were able to get those things out of FF7 seven's story line then you are a smarter man than I.

They managed to hold on to the part where the plot got hit by a train, which is the essential element to any Final Fantasy game.

FF7 isn't any worse than most games. It was probably better than average for the time and even now maybe. It had better characters than the Star Wars prequels.

It's fun to talk **** about and hate on because it was popular with people who weren't fans of role-playing games, and probably precipitated the mass shift toward "action rpgs" as developers scrambled to make games that would appeal to all of the new fans.

I feel the same way. Except it's directed towards gaming as a whole, and console-ers.

Bastards ruined my last Thief game and made me wait an extra year for KOTOR.

It was a great game. I was a huge advocate of FF7. (For the better part of a decade if you googled "Final Fantasy 7" my webpage was the first result)

And to be fair, just about any action game or movie can be summarized as (XYZ) EXPLODES!

But you have to admit... the ending was pretty lame.

The ending was super lame. That said, I'm glad that its ambiguity gave Cloud and co. a new life in other ways. Advent Children (the extended BR version) was so awesome. As was FFVII: Crisis Core.

I even liked Dirge of Cerberus. And don't get me wrong, FF7 is a pretty good game...but it is very, very overrated.

I liked dirge too. It's a fun, neat game that expands on the story in good ways.
