Yea. And Medics shooting an M60 from ungodly range while straffing, and not loosing any accuracy is a bit of a problem, too.

You guys might not like BF3's beta. You die noticeably faster than in BC2 which is a gripe of mine. On par with a Call of Duty pace for time to kill.

Beta/Demo starts tomorrow if you've pre-ordered on Origin or own/have played the MoH LE. Starts the 29th for everyone who wants to download the game to give it a whirl.

I played the BF3 Alpha. I enjoyed it. Kind of in between CoD and BC2 in terms of kill speed, at least when I played it, which was a few months ago. I didn't have a problem with it.

What I have a problem with, is people shooting M-16's and M60's from clear across the map with no loss of accuracy at all. I've had medics and assualt classes shooting me from places that I can barely see them with a 12X scope (as recon). That's fraked up. Also, a friend of mine gets almost as many headshots as me, (again, I play recon/sniper) with a shotgun and magnum slugs. While we are camping from the same spot. It's seriously flawed.

And don't even get me started on the hit detection (or lack thereof), and the rubber knife that doesn't kill anyone. If they take care of these problems, then I will definitely be playing BF3 for a while.

I seriously think that not getting ubersniped by assault rifles is the one perk that consoles have over PCs in terms of gameplay. A mouse is so precise that those issues occur frequently on PC in my experience, but in a battlefield as large as the ones in BC2, the snipers are the only true long-ranged threat I have run into on console. Looking forward to BF3 if I ever have the time to sit down and play it once it's out. I'm currently engaged with SPEHSS MARINE so hard it hurts.

Downloaded the beta for PS3 last night and mucked around on the multiplayer level they offered. I like the feel.

I'm going to wait a couple months before buying this game so that they have time to patch it and calibrate it. Otherwise the experience won't be optimal.

Why is it that you cant change any settings unless you're actually spawned in a game. Or am I missing something.

That's just how it is. Over all I think this beta has done more to hurt the game than it has to help it.

I saw this in a review. You aren't missing anything.

Yea, if I had to base my decision to buy or not on my experiences in the beta so far. It would be a definite "NO."

Having to spawn in to actually adjust any settings is crap. I logged into a game, went to options, got killed before I could make all my changes, and none of them stuck since killing me exited the options screen without saving. Then I spawned in again, but by the time I got to the options screen, the match was over and it exited the options again. WTF???? Oh and it wouldn't even let me bind the melee key to any of my extra mouse buttons. Apparently, it only recognizes Left, Right, Middle/Wheel for mouse buttons.

The fact that you can't do any form of squad management, is also crap. And it's not just because it's a Beta. This is an actual design decision. /boggle

And don't get me started on the whole web browser/game launcher bullshit.

So far, this beta is full of fail.

I'd still like to wait a few months after the release to see if they can clear up the worst of these issues. I had some hopes for this game.

Let me take this golden opportunity to plug Planetside 2.

You can control options from within the game while dead.

And you can control squads from within the game. (its about 2/3rds of the way down at 16:30 on 4 Oct) (link2)

I've had fun so far. But I'll still play PS2 :)

Helicopters should be awesome. Especially the ones with miniguns.

Awesome? Sure. Unstoppable spawn-rape machines? NO.

Helicopters are just as powerful, but there's so many more ways to counter them. They're no longer top dog in the sky. You've got Engineers with lock on rockets(picture Stingers/strela from CoD.) You've got Jets up there for Air to Air dirty work, you can even equip tanks to trade in their shells to become Anti Air vehicles to take out choppers with guided missiles.
