Picked this up at midnight last night. So excited to be back in the worlds of Ezio and Altaïr!

I was playing the multiplayer a little last night and it is soooo fun. Kept me up an hour later than it should have.

Is this AC3? Or is that still upcoming?

Lenas,

Does the multiplayer matching work better than in Brotherhood?

I absolutely LOVED the multiplayer aspect, but every time I tried to join a match, I would sit and wait for up to 30 minutes before a suitable match was found.

Best multiplayer experience I have experienced in a long while, all sullied by the terrible wait time. I gave up trying.

Please tell me they addressed and fixed it.

Well, this is technically AC 4 (1 > 2 > Brotherhood > Revelations). It's the end of the current storyline with Desmond, Altaïr and Ezio.

The story starts off with (spoilers from Brotherhood):
Spoiler:
Desmond realizing he's lost his mind and is now stuck in the animus. After he killed Lucy he was taken by the others to some [what I assume to be] safe location. To regain your own mind, you need to unlock more memories from your ancestors, and you start off with Ezio. He's old, and you're back in Masyaf trying to find the rest of Altaïr's secrets. The ultimate goal, at least right now, is to find the location of some grand temple. I assume it'll be a sick-ass temple from "The Ones From Before" aka the human race creators.

As far as I can tell the netcode is fine. I was jumping in and out of matches no problem last night. Got my new targets quickly and didn't have any lag during the matches.

My first thought as I opened this thread: "They are still making expansions for Asheron's Call?!"

Paused my campaign to play some more multiplayer to test for ya Foamy, didn't have any problems at all. Connected quickly and I was in the game assassinating ***** in under a minute. My best deathmatch score so far is 9 kills, 3 deaths, 4 stuns (assassination defense).

Unfortunately the Gamestop preorder Jester (I went to midnight launch and they handed me a preorder box...) can't be customized it seems :(

More campaign impressions:

+ Tower defense game, could be fun or tedious depending on variation and how much they force you into it. Ezio takes a close-camera third person general position as you place barricades on streets and archers/riflemen/assassins on rooftops or barricades. You can also shoot Ezio's gun at attackers.
+ Hookblade addition makes climbing about twice as fast, and helps with running away from enemies
+ There are a TON of hand bombs you can make in this game, like at least 15, all with dif. effects
+ Combat and kill chains have been further streamlined from Brotherhood, and I saw something about "kill streaks"
+ So far I like the balance between Ezio and Desmond, and I'm sure Altaïr will switch things up a bit as well

- Other characters aren't as interesting so far, but then again I really only liked Leonardo anyway.
- AC is starting to show its age. It could be that most cities are starting to look the same (can't do much about that), it could be that we're playing the same characters, it could be lack of big changes between versions. Not sure what it is, but I'm glad I'm not playing catch up and doing all the games back to back, because I probably wouldn't get through them all without having to take a break.

Thanks for the multiplayer testing.

I picked up the series at AC: Brotherhood. That fact, coupled with my protracted minimal playing time has made the story hard to follow. This month's Game Informer seems to have a condensed "story thus far" section made specifically for those who are picking up the series with Redemption Revelations.

(Brotherhood) It is amazingly fun and overflowing with things to do. Add on to that an extremely fun multiplayer game and it is no wonder I have yet to finish the game. I get so sidetracked that the main quest falls a distant second to just about everything else. Hell, I've had the game for somewhere around a year or so now, and I ONLY JUST got to the mission where the Brotherhood assassins are now available.

Pretty sure AC: Redemption Revelations will be on my Xmas list and (January) birthday list (if not received on Xmas) :)

That should give me enough time to give Skyrim a thorough playing....Or likely not. Either way, what a great time for gaming.

Revelations (not Redemption :D) starts off with a very brief "story until now" cutscene but if you don't plan on playing 1/2, I'd say just read the wiki plot synopses. The story can be pretty confusing.

DAMMIT, brain fart.

I guess I won't be playing Red Dead Revelation anymore, either.

Totally getting addicted to renovations and assassin recruiting like I did in Brotherhood. Barely been advancing the story!

Recruiting assassins plays a bit of a bigger role this time. Instead of dominating a templar-controlled area and never worrying about it again, you can lose them now. Too many illegal actions will raise Templar awareness in an area, and going too high will cause them to attack and try to take it over again. The more assassin recruits you have, and the higher their levels, the slower Templar awareness rises and the better off you are.

That's awesome, I got really sucked into the assassin mini game in Brotherhood, glad to hear they've expanded it.

I just had my first Templar attack this afternoon. You have to run back to your contested Assassin Den and play the tower defense mini game to either win it back or lose it. If you lose, templar influence is back in the area and you once again have to kill the captain. If you win, you unlock new units in the tower defense mini game and also gain exp. for your assassins.

This isn't about air conditioning? Only Lydiaa needs it this time of year.

Ahhh, chaining together a hay-bale kill and a stun to finish the game and put you into first place feels good.

I am so hopelessly addicted to AC: Brotherhood.

There is just so much to do and I keep just getting lost amongst the many missions, challenges, and sidequests that there are.

If AC: Revelations is even half as good as Brotherhood, I will be pleased.

Thanks bro.

Foamy: I'd say that AC:R is better than AC:B, especially the multiplayer. It's not quite the jump in quality that AC2 to AC:B was, but it definitely still evolves the game significantly.

Yeah. This game really does get better with every version. They're always small changes, but they make sense and they're enough to keep it interesting.

That turkish outfit is pretty cool, Ezio gets a metal mask or something. Comes off during cutscenes.

Every time I get a Masyaf key, I feel like Ezio's VA is doing Altaïr too. Is that the case? Doesn't seem like the same voice from part 1.
