I'm not entirely sure why I was ruminating on this, but I was noticing that tattoos are seemingly becoming much more accepted and widespread as generations press on. This isn't the best place to try to get a cross-section, but I was curious as to what the Glade's views are.

There are a lot of options, so I tried to just add the ones that seemed the most encompassing to me.

(For purposes of the poll, "piercings" denotes anything other than standard earrings on a female.)

Gross/low class is too strongly worded for me. I don't mind that others have them (though I'll admit I'm a bit uncomfortable around extreme incidences of the earlobe stretching type), but I'm glad I'm not involved with somebody who's into that so I'll never feel pressured or anything by somebody I love into doing it despite my non-interest.

I have a couple tattoos in places that are easily concealable, and a pierced ear. I've had my nose and tongue pierced, and used to have a lot more in my ears, but it's too much hassle. Not to mention the barbell in my tongue chipped a tooth, resulting in the immediate removal of said barbell.

I have one tattoo on my left shoulder blade. It's a wavy Canadian flag that I got when I was 18, and its 2/3 the size of a credit card I would say.

I answered "other" because I have one tattoo and am happy with it but don't plan on getting more.

I am saddened by the prevalence of meaningless tattoos.

Well...it's kinda like smoking. I don't mind being around people that smoke and I'm not going to tell someone they can't. Their decision. Same with piercings(aside from ears) and tattoos. But I would never do that myself. I've wanted to in the past...but I've since outgrown that desire.

I'm kinda with Kaffis. Don't have any, don't want any (although I've toyed with the idea of a henna tattoo somewhere). They don't gross me out, but I have something of an issue with them, I guess.

That being said, my wife has a small one, and some piercings. She has jokingly urged them on me, but I politely decline.

2nding (3rding?) Kaffis' sentiments. It's kind of an asymptotic curve, for me. I don't have any piercings/tattoos myself, and don't really have any issue with them per se. But as the number of piercings/tattoos increases further and further beyond whatever I consider "normal", I do tend to get less and less comfortable with it.

I don't have any tattoos myself, but I'm not against them. I'm just not a fan of tattoos unless they have some deep personal and/or spiritual significance....this whole getting a new tattoo every other week because "shoulder tiger kitties are kewl!" is not something I like.

I have my ears pierced but thats about it...I had my nose pierced a few years ago but took it out (because some guy I was dating told me it was trashy...) and it closed up. I am thinking about getting it done again after the baby is born and I lose the baby weight.

I had my nipples pierced when I was 19 and I LOVED IT. I hugged everyone. Even strangers. :D
Unfortunately I tried to change the jewelry too soon and they closed up.
If it didn't hurt so dang bad I'd probably do that again as well.

I have a half sleeve done, though I'm not "actively" looking to get more. It's not solid. I got mine because I went through a rough period of life after realizing I walked away with no more than a bruised rotator cuff from something that should have killed or maimed me. And with the realization that I'm not going to change who I am, I have to accept those risks, but count my blessings nonetheless. In fact, I realized that I don't care if I do die, but what I fear most is becoming old, atrophied and obsolete and that death is a rosy alternative, though I'm not necessarily looking to waste my life.

I had a labret piercing. I didn't have anything against it, but facial piercings (particularly oral ones) are so high maintenance, particularly when healing. Tats are easy, just take care of it for 2-3 weeks and put H2Ocean on it after every shower, though the second step is optional.

I have always liked the idea of a tattoo, but I've also always been scared of regret later on.

I plan on getting one, but I don't know when. Going to make sure it's right.

It is obvious that I am inked, I plan on getting more ink. I will never cover the back of my hands, my face/head or my junk. I plan to keep all of my tattooes in a fashion that can be concealed by a suit, if I have a need to wear one. I enjoy getting tattooes, I enjoy tattoes on a woman. I refise to get any flash artwork done. I work with the artist (usually) and design a custom piece of work. Highlighting the artists strengths.

I have a sleeve half done; on my right arm, all artists choice.. as long as it has nothing satanic, nudity or drug related.. the artist was supposed to just do whatever suited him. As long as they threw the sagitarius symbol in honor of my daughter.

I also have, on my right inner wrist; a small skull with an explosion of goo from its 'ears' it is hear no evil. It was one of three 'matching' tattooes. My GF has speak no evil, and our friend has see no evil.

On my right shin I have one of the zombie brothers from the cannibal corpse album butchered at birth. I have the one who is originally holding a fetus; but as there have been SIDS related baby deaths in the family.. I opted to have a dead rat instead of a baby in my zombie's hands.

On my upper back to lower neck I have the logo from the band hypocrisy surrounded by smoky-filler with negative space used for my zodiac symbol Taurus.

On my left arm I have a tribal band in the shape of an 'M' for my last name.

My current tattoo plans are as follows:

Over my heart; I want the blue autism awareness puzzle piece (my nephew is autistic) and surrounding it I want the zodiac symbols for my family members.

On back; I am going to do a full back tribute to H.P. Lovecraft (who was born, lived and died about 10 miles from where I was born and raised). I am going to have Cthulhu, Rats in the Walls, Fish men, etc.

My left leg I want to have done with the war in heaven.

Other parts of mt are as of yet, undecided.

I currently have both of my ears pierced and stretched; they are currently at a 00 gauge (approximately 3/8 of an inch. I will not be stretching any further. I have considered piercing my lip but continue to find a way to punk out on that commitment.

Seem to be missing an option for "one or two piercings/tattoos, and am perfectly comfortable with them".

I have 2 tattoos in typically out-of-sight locations, a tongue piercing that few people ever actually see, and a collection of ear piercings that are largely unused at present. I don't regret any of them, but don't plan to get more.

My wife is an addict. She has both ink and various bits of metal shoved in different body parts. She argues with me a bit about them. I dont' care for them at all.

I'm fortunate I find such things unattractive in general, because I can't actually get peircings or ink due to a medical condition. (Even my ears!)

Other, I have a pair of earrings and to me a pair or two of earrings is fine, and I can deal with a small nose peircing or a tongue or bellybutton one, but eyebrow, lip or whole ton of ear ones is gross/low class, and tatoo's regardless of where and of what and how big are ugly and can turn an otherwise beautiful person unatractive., like Angelina Jolie for example, the only time I find her attractive is in the movies that they air brush her tatoos, otherwise, nope, she does nothing for me because of those ugly tatoos.

I like body art that compliments the canvass it's painted on. Not being terribly fond of my own canvas, I have no ink. I avoid piercings for the same reason I avoid getting stabbed. Because it's getting stabbed. that being said, a well place piercing can be very attractive. I like naval piercings on nice navals, I like a small bar through the eyebrow if it compliments the face. Nose piercings are rarely attractive, but when they are I like them quite a bit. Tongue piercings are for people that need to lrn2play. :P

Currently just have one ear pierced.

I pierced my nipple once, but it wasn't healing well, so I removed it. I'm actively planning on a full back peice, but I'm finalizing the design and what I want. It will be Norse themed, and currently I'm leaning towards having Mjolnir take up the majority of the back.

My wife has 2 tattoos. Both are Japanese style, a Koi fish with a lotus blossom that takes up her entire back. The other is an upper sleeve of 2 kites, one with a dragon, the other with a phoenix. She has some various assorted peircings as well.

Common misconception. Not all tongue piercings are for sexual purposes.

With a torpedo.

I voted other. I have none and want none. I'm ok with looking at someone with a tat or too, and mainstream piercings (ears, navel, and nose if the jewelry is teeny tiny). Anything that would qualify as "body art" I find unattractive. And just say no to tribals and tramp stamps.

There is no place on the poll for the old-fashioned ear piercing in women's ears.

Below is the tattoo I saw yesterday. This is not work safe and may induce nausea in the sensitive.

Spoiler:
There was an 83 year old who can in yesterday for a procedure on her lower back. She was not a well preserved 83 year old. When undressed for the procedure a fresh tattoo was found, less than a week old. It said "**** me" and she was wearing a thong. June (male nurse) was traumatized.
