The lightning volcano thread jogged a vague memory that there are a few people here who've been struck by lightning before. Just curious how many. Also wondering whether any of you now have super powers.

I have never been struck by lightening. On a related note, my super power is the ability to not be struck by lightening.

LOL, no, just once.

The other times, (hundreds of them) were bursts/waves/whatever during a sailing trip. Lightning was hitting the water all around us and running up the side of the boat and getting me on the wheel/ropes/cleats, etc.

It's come damn close 5 or 6 other times (I have one on film), but hasn't gotten me.

You were aboard the SS Minnow? Tell me, from your first hand experience Marianne or Ginger?

Seriously though, I'd have been shitting bricks.

It was rather unnerving. Not to mention annoying. Like holding onto an electric fence for an hour to an hour and a half.

Electric fences freak me out, can't imagine that lightning is any fun.

I have never been struck by lightning, but I have gotten a jolt when I completed a circuit by touching a radio, plugged in with a frayed wire. I didn't see that it was frayed and grabbed it directly on the exposed wire because that part was touching the rug. The feeling went straight up my arm and tingled like hell until I was able to let go. The radio even turned on and my hair has been red ever since. No, wait that is something else.

No, but was about twenty feet away when a car, not mine, was hit. Scary.

My sister was under a tiny little metal awning just outside a building when it was hit, basically a foot or 3 above her head. Not too sure on the details beyond that but it was not a fun experience for her. :p

I saw lightning hit a light pole across the street from where I was.

That's as close as I'd ever want to get.

Yes indeed.

In both cases I felt strange and hot, then woke up later feeling like I'd been hit by a truck. I was awfully close to a third a few years ago when a tree I was 15 feet from got hit. I was face down in the dirt shaking before I knew what happened.
