Maybe the dragon will be female? Don't remember if it has a gender in the book.

My thought on Thorin from the pic with all of them: "Here comes the smolder."

They should have cast epic beard guy Burke Kenny. That looks like a beard even a dwarf would be proud of.

Galadriel and Arwen were barely present, let alone leads. Hell, Arwen was more of a quest reward than an actual character. Eowyn had about as much presence and impact as Faramir, which isn't to say that she just sat around and knit sweaters, but she did fall decidedly short of a lead role.

And interestingly, in the movie depicted by that poster, the female most prominently featured only appears in flashback/dream sequence type stuff.

Can we get back to ***** about Dwarves beards and stuff now?! :D

I'd pick Sean Bean over Viggo Mortensen any day of the week.

Still not sure about Chancellor Thorin of the Klingon High Command, but overall it does look pretty damn good.

I'm sorry, but no dwarf could claim to be a King with a puny beard like that.

Ok, I admit to laughing at youtube's top comment:

"The Hobbit proves one thing:

A party of 13 fighters, a rogue, and a wizard can work. F*** you, party balance!"

To be fair, I think most of the fighters are low level, so their presence is negligible.

TBH, that's your own fault for watching Star Trek. I only dimly remember him as a Klingon. If you stop thinking about it, you will too.

Oh, he's not Robert O'Reilly (if I am remembering the actor's name right). Just his hair, armor, and getup makes him look klingonish.

It will be fine. It's a minor nitpick.

A major nitpick will be if they make the movie darker than it needs to be. The Hobbit was a children's book and never intended to be extremely dark and foreboding.

Well, it should probably be a little darker than Dr. Seuss. :D

Sigh. This was my fear, and it looks to be manifest.

'The Hobbit' is being filmed at 48fps. In other words? It's going to look like a soap opera.

Oh, no! Framerates that make sense!

I hate that we demand 60fps of our video games and 24fps (BLARGHHHH) for our movies.

The human eye & brain system samples images at 16-17 frames per second.
