Since it's just hubby and me this year and we wanted something different, Im going to roast a small pork tenderloin. There will be roasted garlic smashed taters and gravy, but I'm drawing a blank on what else to serve that will be different and go with the pork. Any suggestions?

Lenas I was thinking apple pie for dessert, but perhaps a nice chunky applesauce on the side instead of cranberry sauce.

NephyrS we have that often, I was looking for something different, but maybe.

Hubby has asked about broccoli with cheese sauce...maybe, but we have that often, too.

Mashed potatoes and gravy are always a good staple, and go well with pork. If that is too boring, perhaps a rice dish of some kind?

Sweet potatoes with brown sugar, butter, and cinnamon are a nice alternative to regular taters.

I'll second some variety of roasted brussels sprouts.

You can either do with balsamic vinegar, or you can do them with sausage or bacon sauteed in a cast iron pot on the stove.

Or just roasted with pine nuts.

One of my favorite sides.

For Green Bean Casserole, Jasmy, you should look at Alton Brown's recipe. It's the best Green Bean Casserole I've ever had, although some of the steps are a bit over the top (like, making your own onion topping).

Oooh, I know - Succotash! I love a good succotash, dont come across it too often anymore. Lots of interesting recipes online.

Unfortunately, my wife hates lima beans, so I have to eat it all myself if I make it.

Whoa, Brussels sprouts was going to be my suggestion! Here's how I do mine, just about every week with my Sunday breakfast. They'd be great with pork loin.

Fry two pieces of bacon in a pan. Remove and set aside.
Cut brussels sprouts in half.
Brown the brussels sprouts in the bacon grease for a minute or two on each side, just so they're seared a little.
Add a cup of chicken stock, a cup of white wine, and 1tbsp brown sugar.
Stir, cover, and let them steam and soften up for about ten minutes, stirring every few minutes.
Remove the cover and stir regularly until the juices reduce.
Remove from heat, cut bacon into small bite sized bits, and sprinkle over sprouts.

I am not a big pork fan but I hear apple stuff goes well with it so maybe some apple sauce or

OK, I bring this dish up not because it's good with pork or anything, but because it's something you won't expect to be good, but it really is: Jicama-Melon Salad. You can find a Jimmy Flay recipe for it online, but let me know if you want to try it. His needs some adjustment, I found it a bit oily.

Oh, oh, or - homemade, from scratch, baked beans. Do 'em in a crock pot, you won't have to think about them until it's time to scoop them out.

How about a cranberry-apple chutney to serve with the pork.

As for side dishes, candied carrots or yams, broccoli au gratin, homemade Mac and cheese, greenbean cassarole, and red beans and rice are all nice staples.

If you decide to go with the chutney, let me know and I'll PM you my recipe if you'd like.
