The Glade 4.0

So, The Banner Saga: Factions has launched a public release, now.

It's not the final product for the Kickstarter, but is an intermediate Multiplayer-only product that is being used as a test bed for combat balance and such, as well as a sort of demo for the forthcoming single player game and a F2P product in its own right.

And it's pretty good. They're still banging out some infrastructure/lag type issues with the wider release that launching out of beta has given them, but the gameplay is solid and the learning curve is much improved by a tutorial that's been added since the last time I played (at the start of the beta). Matches with friends work, and it's fun.

Anybody else playing? I think, if I'm reading my friends list right, Dalantia has logged in at least once...

Well, my first impressions are poor, to say the least. Considering that it gave me a version mismatch pop-up for a client install that had JUST finished downloading, my only option was disconnect, and then the client hung. So maybe I'll never investigate it again.

If you want to fix the client mis-match (which, gah, I can't believe they haven't ironed out after a week), right click the game and select properties. In the "Betas" tab, change the drop-down to "Opt Out of All Betas." It's an artifact of when it was in beta. I didn't realize it was happening for fresh downloads, or I'd have warned you.
