...I've been in counseling for two months. It's not a cure-all - but I'm keeping up with class, putting the effort in to try to move forward. I am eating better (insomuchas I can with what's available), I'm not suicidal, I'm.. making progress.

I still have a ways to go, but I'm doing better.

This is good.

I'm glad to hear you're doing better. It sounds like you've been dealing with your problems much more gracefully and productively than I did. If you ever want to talk to someone who's been there, feel free to PM me.

As advice goes, this is pretty banal, but just keep moving forward (even if it's not by much) come hell or high water. It's really tough at first, but it gets easier when start to reap some successes. Until then, you don't have anything to motivate that forward motion except force of will, which is commodity in short supply when you've been wracked with failure and guilt. Learn how to let go and how to force the past out of your mind. Take whatever lessons you need from the past, and leave the rest behind.

I want it to happen. My vote is 'Aye.' It's immensely useful for awesome things like this thread.

But do you really want to let your Facebook friends that you're conversing with the likes of me? A dreg of the internets?

Perhaps we could get thread thumbs, rather than post-by-post, account pez, or Facebook likes.

I would not be in favor of linking this to facebook, or any other social media environment.

I wouldn't have any heartburn with a thumbs up/thumbs down sort of thing that is local to this forum, but I think when those sorts of things have been explored in the past, they were vetoed....

I do not want it to link to FB... I just want to be able top give awesome news like this a thumbs up.

To expound a little... (this might wind up the self-contemplation thread)

Sure, I have moments of "whoa, I am worthless, why do these people tolerate me", but ultimately, I can shut up that voice instead of being tempted by it. I procrastinate still, but I also Get Things Done.

I've learned to talk to my friends when I need it.. instead of letting it explode. And maybe I've learned that while in general, people kind of suck, individually, they're pretty cool.
