Is it wrong that the Mayhem commercials popped into my head while watching this?

Guy trying to protect his car during a hailstorm...

Wow, this is a really cool video of Stevie Nicks backstage singing along to a rough early demo version of Wild Heart.

This was taken during a Rolling Stone photo shoot when this cover photo was taken

She talks about this in an interview with Good Day New York at about the 6:30 mark.

Wow, he looks just like Jagger. What's funny is that I still can't understand a word of the lyrics of that song, other than something about "just around midnight" and "Brown Sugar".

Good cover, though.

I had to look up the lyrics. I assumed I had forgotten them, but it turns out I honestly never knew them at all..

Apparently I didn't understand them when Mick sang it either...

Brown Sugar - Rolling Stones wrote:
Gold coast slave ship bound for cotton fields
Sold in a market down in New Orleans
Scarred old slaver knows he's doing alright
Hear him with the women just around midnight

Brown sugar
How come you taste so good?
Brown sugar
Just like a young girl should

Drums beating, cold English blood runs hot
Lady of the house wonderin' where it's gonna stop
House boy knows that he's doing alright
You shoulda heard him just around midnight

Brown sugar
How come you taste so good, now?
Brown sugar
Just like a young girl should, now
[ From: http://www.elyrics.net ]

Get along, brown sugar
How come you taste so good, baby?
Got me feelin' now, brown sugar
Just like a black girl should

I bet your mama was a tent show queen
Had all the boyfriends at sweet sixteen
I'm no schoolboy but I know what I like
You shoulda heard me just around midnight

Brown sugar
How come you taste so good, baby?
Brown sugar
Just like a young girl should, yeah

I said, "Yeah, yeah, yeah
How come you, how come you taste so good?
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Just like a, just like a black girl should
Yeah, yeah, yeah"
Lyrics from eLyrics.net

Seriously? You've all been jamming along with it for <=42 years, and never considered what was going on, there?

Oh, and I should point out, the correct last line of the first verse is "Hear him whip the women just around midnight".

Yea, there are several variations of the lyrics if you watch some of the live versions on youtube.

Much in the same vein that Mark Knopfler does not sing about "the little faggot with the earring and the makeup" anymore, the lyrics to many songs have changed as times have changed. The original lyrics, however, are as I've stated.

As I said to my wife, last night, I thought it was about some hot black mama who takes a young lad upstairs ... It's not like Mick is terribly clear when he's singing (anything), and it's not like we had lyrics.com or whatever. You kids, these days. ;)

'Scuse me, while I kiss this guy.

Well, Jagger's own explanation is that the song is about 'Drugs and Girls' (whodathunkit?).

Like many lyrics, there are almost certainly double meanings. Brown Sugar is a slang for brown Heroin. Jagger had a relationship (and had a child) with a black woman named Marsha Hunt during the time this song was written.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/musi ... 80000.html

Edit: But yea, I can honestly say that other than the main chorus, I really never knew the rest of the lyrics. Rolling Stones have never been on my 'jam along' list because almost all of their music is in some alternate/open tuning, and I'm too lazy to mess with it.
