Head to head: Talya vs. Lydiaa

No, wait: Canada Vs. Australia

A reference page: http://www.livingin-canada.com/canada-vs-australia.html

The United States has dropped through the cracks in the sidewalk due to an errant mutagen. The zombies are coming, the borders are sealed (no, this is not real) and you have to make a decision. Do you escape the zombies and move to Canada or Australia, the only two countries currently accepting reugees from America. Some unfortunate few on the southern borders tried for Mexico but word (and no survivors) has come back that the Chupacabra are guarding the borders with ray guns and stew pots and there are no more jobs there than there were before. A link is provided and the respective Canadians and Australians can recruit you or bounce your immigration request. Ellessar is a Canadian as well, so don't try to convince the judges based on your sex appeal alone. Skills, why would they want you? Will you become another post consumer human or escape to a better life among the moose or the koalas.

Those who choose to stay and fight the zombies. we salute you and there are plenty of other games for you. This is about those who choose to survive the zombies.

Discuss.

Koalas are getting AIDs so until they find a strain in caribou, I am opting for Canada.

Canada. I like forests, not so much the Mediterranean climate (that I currently live in, oddly enough). And I like winter, too. I wonder if cold weather would slow down the zombies ... Snow certainly could, come to think of it. The only advantage for Australia would be that they have some wide open spaces, so you can see the zombies coming. A 30-06 and a scope in the desert, crap, nothing would get near the compound.

Oh, I have to request permission? Um, I have tech skills, a Ph.D. (implying some sort of skill set), and I won't be a drain on society. Plus, I can liberally sprinkle "hey" into my conversation, being originally from Wisconsin. It's not "eh", but it's pretty close.

And, to think I came online originally to look at real estate sites.

Canada has a more abundant supply of fresh water (amongst other strategic advantages). Thus, Canada.

The real answer, however, is New Zealand.

I would expect the opposite to be true and that the cold of Canada would preserve the zombies longer which might also make it harder to differentiate between shell-shocked survivors and the living dead.

Two words, boarder control.

If zombies populate the world, you know the chances of them swimming to Aust is slim to none (especially in summer when it's shark season).

Down side to that is we don't have as many guns as the US does =P but we have lazer sharks!!!

Yes, but if the sharks eat the zombies...you would then have zombie sharks. Dead sharks do not need to breath.

Undead Land Shark...

Gonna have to call my DM.

See, I'm thinking that the cold would slow them down - you know, old folks go to Arizona and other warm climates because their joints bother them. Given that they're only one step removed from zombiedom, I figure the same logic might apply.

I like the border control idea, however, I have to admit. Depends if we're talking spontaneous generation of zombies, a la Dawn of the Dead, in which case you have a lot more population to go through in Australia than in Canada. Oh, oh, wait. Canada has about 10 million more people than Australia (thanks Wikipedia). Wow, I didn't anticipate that. Huh.

depends on if it's winter or the 6 weeks of summer in Canada =P

zombies would be frozen out in the cold (if they are still liquidy) and you'd have zombie popsicles to worry about.

On the other hand, we get everything 6 month later than you guys, so we'd be zombie free at least for the first 6 month. Plus if there were any infected on planes, the 22 hour trip (as a min from west US) would mean they’d have turned and the plane would have crashed.

I guess Canada can break away from the US and drift over and we can have a party.

In Aussie-land, you can get skin cancer at night. I'll go with Canadia, even if it means putting up with the pea-soup eaters.

In a Zombiepocalypse, you don't think they'd be some of the first to go?

Think about it Screeling. Zombies have a very small carbon footprint. They walk everywhere, don't use machinery that emits greenhouse gasses, and they consume brains. A zombiepocalypse in the USA would cut greenhouse emissions to almost nothing. Do it in China and the hole above Australia would probably close.

Zombies - post consumer humans.

Cold in Canada vs a horde of mindless entities whose goal in life is seemingly to end me in Australia... cause man, all those insects and reptiles in Australia? No thanks! Sorry Lydiaa! Death by zombie is probably quicker and less painful!

Those RCMP have fancy uniforms. I'll head north.

I would have to say Australia for me. Screw going to canada just to sit my *** in the snow. But I understand (from friends who went to Oz) that Australia seems to have some sort of monopoly on over hawt women who like American's.

And... the fact is with so many things that can kill you in Australia... if no *** is forthcoming: I still have a chance to get eaten by something, but I will be digested and not trying to consume my friends.

Canada's got too much of a border for wandering zombie hordes to cross. And snow.

I would head to Canada. The zombies, once they arrived in Australia would systematically destroy all aircraft and boats, thus making it impossible to leave the island. They would be able to herd everyone into compounds to eat at leisure. In Canada there is less chance to be trapped.
My job is testing blood for antibodies, I run the lab that finds the "anti-zombie-body" and reverts the zombies back to humans.

:) can I pass through the border check point?

Here is another twist, what about supplies? In Canada you can organize raids across the border into the greatest consumption based economy in the world to collect weapons, ammo, foodstuffs, medical supplies, etc. In Australia I would assume your opportunity to scavenge is slightly less.

Besides, in Australia you have to worry about the wildlife hunting you. Zombies I can handle. Spiders the size of my chest would leave me crying in the fetal position for my mama.

Is there mud and wrestling involved?

Hmm, tough choice. I damn near live in Canada now, so I'm thinking I'd go with Australia for a change of pace.

I am not sure this would be an issue. The populated areas of canada have the border blocked by the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence river. The unguarded wide border across the interior wouldn't attract zombies. There are almost no people there. No people means fewer zombies and no food to attract zombies. While they could go around the lakes given time, zombies don't tend to plan ahead like that.

Now, I don't see zombies heading to australia at all, unless they get their by accident (people bringing them there.) That said, australia's population is in a nice undefended ring around the coast, once zombies are there, nothing's stopping them. The aboriginies are probably safe, though. (Of course, with their scary mysticism, perhaps they START the zombie apocalypse!)

Canadians also have lots of chainsaws, axes, and guns. More per capita than any country in the world, i believe.

Of course the zombies would reach Australia, no one has read World War Z????

I'll stick in my home country with its abundance of fresh water and natural reasources. Plus I can ice skate away from the approaching horde!
