We've been using a Roku 2 for a couple years now and I've been mostly satisfied with it. It's faster and has a better interface than any other streaming device I've used, which has included 4 - 5 different blu ray players and current gen consoles. As well as it has both Amazon Prime and Hulu Plus (something that neither Apple Tv nor Google tv has).

When I heard that the Roku 3 came out, I was intrigued. Roku 2, while very decent, still seemed like it suffered from a memory buffer problem (it would get bogged down over a long period of time and a reboot would resolve it). Promises of the Roku 3 being 5 times faster and with an even slicker interface sounded quite intriguing and was almost enough to sell me on it alone.

Then I saw the feature that allows you to plug headphones directly into the remote control (one that is WiFi, not infrared, as well). This meant I could watch streaming video in bed with headphones and it would mute the stream coming from the television, thus I could watch anything I wanted at any volume level without disturbing my wife's sleep.

Sold. Take my money.

After last night, I can verify that it was worth every single damn penny. Oh, and the slicker interface, faster speed, and ability to be on a 5.0 Ghz WiFi network is also nice too. But the headphone jack in the controller? I couldn't stop grinning with my show's volume cranked while my wife slept.

Just wait until something awesome in whatever show you're watching happens, and you forget you're wearing headphones, and you wake your wife up by screaming something at the show.

That's fun.
