Picked up Defiance for super cheap. I've been wanting to get it, but wasn't sure I wanted to pay 70 bucks for it ;)

Kotaku, any other week of the year would have been fine for posting an article about the calculator though.

Man, I wonder how much those devs love that their horse game has become a sale joke. I'm sure they've sold thousands and thousands for that reason, laughing all the way to the bank.

I knew biding my time for Bioshock Infinite to come down in price would literally pay off.

Decided to play my first run-through on hardest difficulty as well as disable loot/objective/interact-able object highlights as well as "Let me show you EXACTLY where to go" arrow buttons. Definitely more immersive with a lot more attention paid to detail since I have to go looking for things a bit more thoroughly.

Pretty much. When the meme first kicked off, they sold 25,000 copies in less than a week. SOTMC was mostly made to demonstrate in their portfolio that they knew the Unity engine. They went with a horse sim because a lot of the devs had daughters. Now they're using the funds to re-develop it into the game they really wanted to make. There's a good article/interview about it here:

Quote:
And here’s the other thing. Gamers — like, actual grownups with credit cards — actually seem to play the game for far longer than you might expect. Forget for a moment the 10.7 hours I logged in the game grinding out my Magic Crystals. There are thousands of screenshots posted on the game’s Steam hub page. Dozens of complete walk-throughs have been recorded on YouTube. An unscientific view of my Steam friends list has 35 owners of the game who have a median playtime of around 2 hours.

Finally broke down today:

FTL (Soundtrack edition)
FEZ (Soundtrack edition)

What games are people waiting for? Personally, I won't be able to resist a deep Metro:Last Light discount. Would probably snag Deadpool if it was cheap enough.

I grabbed Bioshock Infinite yesterday.

FEZ is on sale now too? I didn't see it yesterday. Will grab that too when I get home.

Yep, the main daily sale rotates every 24 hours. The flash sales are every 8 hours, and the community pick seems to go 8 on, 8 off. Whee. Anyway, looks like they keep yesterday's sales for an extra day, so FEZ should be on from today at 12PM central time until 12PM central on Sunday.

And now, I can finally get around to playing Bioshock: Infinite.

Does it ever happen where a game is on sale and then goes on sale for less? Some of these sales I'm on the fence about and an even lower price would push me over the edge toward purchase.

Not in close temporal proximity, usually. It's not like if you jump at one now, it'll be 10% cheaper next week. The summer sales are usually their super-heavily discounted ones, too.

Next summer, it could show up for less, sure. Maybe even as a deal in 6 months, now that they're doing small weekly sales.

Crystal Dynamics Tomb Raider reboot is $12.99 today. If you don't own it, buy it. It's hands down the best entry in the franchise and an amazing game.

Sorry, I meant during the same summer sale. There's some games I want to buy, but not if they'll be cheaper in a few days. Just not sure if they ever further discount games during these sales. I thought they did that to me once, but can't remember.

This is how you know your mod is a ridiculous success. From the arma II store page:

Quote:
The Day Z Mod requires both Arma II and Arma II: Operation Arrowhead. For the best experience (including high detail textures for all models used in the DayZ Mod) purchase Arma II: Complete Collection.

Ooh, the swapper's up half price ($7.50) on a flash sale. Been eyeing that one, guess it's time to pull the trigger. Also, if any of you guys were interested, Spec Ops the line is up for $7.50, was a much better game than I was expecting.
