I hope I catch one! They look like fighters! I will post a pic if I do. They say you can catch Mahi Mahi, Yellow Tuna, or Blue Marlin. It will be interesting!

We are renting a house 5 min from the ocean near Nags Head. I hope the weather will be nice and not stormy.

I did a double-take, here. "Fairbanks, Alaska!?" Then I went, "Wait, no. That's nowhere near an ocean. Where's Nag's Head?"

I'm a bit jealous -- I'm not a huge beach guy, but you're right near Kitty Hawk, apparently. I've always wanted to go due to the connection to early flight.

Nags Head is in Outer Banks, North Carolina, just spending a week there. I took a travel assignment in Fairbanks, Alaska. It's for 12 weeks then I have to figure out where to go after that. Weather in AK is awesome!

This is a seasonally variable situation.

I lived in Fairbanks in the mid-90's. I distinctly remember driving my Subaru Outback from Eielson AB into Fairbanks one cold December morning, going by the shopping center in North Pole, and the temperature on the bank sign reading -66 degrees (yes, negative 66 degrees Fahrenheit). This is decidedly *not* good weather. This is weather than will kill you for looking at it funny.

That said, the summers can be awesome, if you don't mind mosquitoes the size of small birds (at least you can hear them coming), and 24 hours of daylight.

I assume you were warned about the moose (not Arafys, we already know about him)? If you come across one, go the other way, especially if there are young around.

I've seen some Moose when I was running. I stayed clear! They are HUGE!

The daylight is nice, doesn't make you feel like you work midnights! I would go in in light and come out to light. Unlike what I am used to, dark all time cept when sleeping

Omg, I hate waiting... Getting oil changed in my car and I am stuck here when it is gorgeous outside.

Vacation starts Friday, can't wait for OBX. Gonna go to this place called Kitty Hawk Kites.
I wonder how hard it is to fly a stunt kite?

Oonagh and I have a 6ft. wingspan stuntkite, they aren't that hard to pilot. Ours has two lines with wrist straps at the end. Pull on one, the kite turns that way. The trick is not to pull too hard or else the kite starts looping and intertwining the strings. Simple enough to loop it back the other way to untangle, though once you get the hang of it.

Be careful of one thing though...In a strong wind, be prepared to REALLY have to dig your heels in or else you are going sand surfing. Especially a tiny little thing like you...

Damn, now I want to get our kite out and go fly it at Valley Forge Park.

I bought a 7.5 Parafoil kite. It is so easy to fly! I also got a kite that looks like a bird, but it has been too windy for that one.

I did go kite surfing and nearly killed myself.

And I am now the proud parent of a hermit crab
