Excited. The Riddick films are always a good time.

I'm not sure how I feel about the departure from "Deeper Narrative about the nature of good and evil in which "Badazzmofo ***** up some aliens somewhere dark." back to plain old "Badazzmofo ***** up some aliens somewhere dark."

I think it'll be better. Riddick doesn't need the narrative about good and evil ;)

well no, but I don't feel he suffered from it either. However it smacks of "Let's do a gratuitous prequel because we want to make money off the franchise and we don't know how to write ourselves out of the corner we put ourselves into last time."

Yup, i'm pretty curious if any of Chronicles will be alluded to at all. They're still calling it a sequel, so I feel like they need to at least mention it, if only in fanservice.

Twohy has said that it does build off of Chronicles.

Karl Urban is listed in the credits, so there is at least some reference to Chronicles.

I didn't really have much interest in this until I saw the clip where Riddick saves a space puppy (skip to 0:40 for puppy):

I'm sorry, but that's just awesome/hilarious. Now I have to go see this. :D

Ya know, I loved Pitch Black, but didn't see any of the others. But, yeah, this looks fun (although I have to wonder, just how many lightless environments can their be in the universe?), and I do love the bad guy comment up top.

Pitch Black > Riddick > Chronicles.

This. Although all 3 movies are enjoyable.

The animated movie isn't bad either.

Saw it, enjoyed it, it jumped the shark in the first few minutes which let me relax and not worry about other plot holes.

Gratuitous nudity, lots of violence, some gore, a little word play, it was an unremarkable script. Mindless enjoyment of SF dark comedy pretending to be an action movie.

I'll definitely be seeing this when I get some time. Not because I'm particularly interested in the Riddick franchise (I'm not) but I still have a soft spot in my heart for Katee Sackhoff (actually Starbuck).

I really only had one complaint for the film.

Spoiler:
The whole make the lesbian want to **** me thing was one of the most homophobic things I've seen on screen in quite a while.
