Interesting, the article says it's "opt out", but mine was turned off by default, and would have allowed me to "opt in".

Huh. Mine was already checked, and I had to opt out. I wonder if they experienced some fallout and changed it.

I had checked mine before you posted, 'Skeee, and it was unchecked.

The best I can come up with is that it was initially set based on some other privacy setting you had opted in or out on.

If you haven't activated your G+ account, and you haven't done any +1's around on the net (which would most likely prompt you to set up G+, and you haven't linked your youtube account to G+, then you're probably safe.
