This is what's **** up about DC. How many different people have been "the dude who runs really fast" and "the guy who makes green ****" that you can have arguments about which one was better?

It's called Crisis and I don't really understand it. Perhaps someone can explain it to you where I have failed to grasp it.

That's what great about the DCAU. They dispense with all that and distill every character down to their basics.

Jay Garrick was the first Flash. If I remember right his top speed in the golden age was around 60 MPH.

Barry Allen, is the silver age Flash. Gave his life to save the world.

Wally West also from the silver age was Kid Flash. Part of the, lets give every hero a "Robin" kick. While he was a solid character, he really came to life in the Teen Titans. After the first Crisis he became Flash full time.

So there ya go, three men over 73 years.

DC is more concerned with creating durable archetypes, where the person under the mask can change. Contrast that with Marvel, who focuses more on specific people, while DC paints in broader strokes.

This is also why DC works better in animation than Marvel, and the other way 'round for live action.

Since I had nothing else to do with my Saturday. I watched the first season...I am impressed. I wish I hadn't given up on the show.

I was generally pleased with Barry Allen. I think he could play well.

I'm about 2/3 through the first season on Netflix. I like it a lot. It keeps me coming back.

It sometimes gets a little too 'cliche' for my taste, but I guess that is the nature of this type of show.

Same boat as Midgen, although the sister Thea is pretty much the most ridiculous character ever. The father was up there too, but seems to be getting better.

I finished S1 and watched the first episode of S2 last night.

And I agree about Thea, although I would say she does get less ridiculous late in S1.

S2e1 started off kind of strange. I won't spoil it, but there wasn't much of a lead in to explain the starting point. It was smoothed out a bit about half way through, but the opening scene was kind of confusing, especially considering that I started S2e1 about 15 seconds after the last episode of S1. A lot of stuff happened between those two episodes...

I'm caught up on this now.

I guess the fact that I kept coming back every evening for a few more episodes means I like it pretty well overall.

Could someone point me at a good source for looking up ratings for shows like this? I'm curious how this one is doing.

Every now and then they will post the TV ratings on AICN. This one draws about as many viewers as Smallville did. I think the only shows that do better on the CW are Vampire Diaries and Supernatural.

I just caught up with this one at mid-season 3.

This show needs less Malcom Merlyn and more The Batman :p

getting behind again. It seems like a good show to watch in spurts.

Yeah their propensity for cliffhanger episodes makes watching week to week maddening
